About Canadian Strategic Missions Corp. (CSMC)

About the Role

CSMC is advancing next-generation micro-nuclear systems for defence, remote operations, and sovereign energy capability. We are looking for a Business Development Lead who knows how to navigate the Canadian nuclear ecosystem and turn relationships, market intelligence, and emerging opportunities into tangible progress.

This is not a generalist business development role. The successful candidate will understand the players, programs, procurement pathways, and regulatory environment that shape Canada’s nuclear sector, and will be comfortable engaging credibly with utilities, government, national labs, defence stakeholders, industry partners, and technology collaborators.

Working closely with CSMC’s senior leadership, you will help build strategic partnerships, advance customer and program opportunities, strengthen CSMC’s position in the market, and keep complex stakeholder relationships moving forward.

\nWhat You’ll Do

Market Development & Opportunity Advancement

Identify, qualify, and advance opportunities across the Canadian nuclear sector, including defence, remote power, national labs, utilities, and federal programs.
Map and engage key stakeholders across organizations such as CNSC, NRCan, DND/DRDC, CNL, AECL, provincial energy ministries, utilities, EPCs, and industry partners.
Track relevant policy, procurement, funding, regulatory, and competitive developments and translate them into actionable opportunities for CSMC.
Provide leadership with insight on market timing, partnership opportunities, and program positioning.

Partnerships & Stakeholder Engagement

Build and maintain relationships with nuclear-sector decision makers, program leaders, procurement stakeholders, engineering partners, integrators, and technology collaborators.
Represent CSMC at industry conferences, trade shows, working groups, government briefings, and stakeholder meetings.
Lead early-stage and follow-up discussions independently, bringing in the appropriate senior leaders as opportunities and relationships mature.
Support continuity across relationships led by CSMC’s Government Relations, Nuclear, and Indigenous Relations leadership.

Strategic Positioning & Commercial Development

Help shape CSMC’s positioning within Canadian nuclear, defence, and government programs and strategic initiatives.
Develop compelling customer and partner materials, including presentations, briefing documents, proposals, and stakeholder-specific collateral.
Contribute to pricing, commercial positioning, and opportunity strategy, working with leadership on negotiation and final commercial decisions.
Help develop partnerships and teaming arrangements that strengthen CSMC’s ability to pursue and deliver major programs.

Proposals & Cross-Functional Execution

Lead and coordinate proposals for nuclear, defence, and government-related opportunities, bringing together technical, commercial, regulatory, and program inputs.
Work closely with engineering, legal, regulatory, and program teams to ensure CSMC presents a clear and consistent position to external stakeholders.
Maintain visibility across opportunities, commitments, follow-ups, and next steps so important relationships and pursuits continue to move forward.

What We’re Looking For

Required

5+ years of experience in business development, partnerships, commercial, or program roles within the Canadian nuclear sector or a closely related regulated environment.
Strong understanding of the Canadian nuclear ecosystem, including the organizations, programs, procurement processes, and regulatory considerations that influence how opportunities move forward.
Demonstrated experience representing an organization independently with senior external stakeholders.
Experience advancing complex opportunities, partnerships, programs, or proposals involving multiple internal and external stakeholders.
Comfort discussing commercial positioning, pricing, and partnership structures.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the judgment and credibility to operate independently in a complex stakeholder environment.
Ability to work effectively in an organization where priorities are evolving and opportunities do not always follow a linear path.

Strong Assets

Existing relationships across the Canadian nuclear ecosystem, including utilities, CNL, AECL, CNSC, NRCan, DND/DRDC, EPCs, nuclear OEMs, or other industry partners.
Experience with microreactors, advanced reactors, SMRs, or nuclear innovation programs.
Experience in defence, military, remote power, critical infrastructure, or dual-use technologies.
Familiarity with relevant federal funding and innovation programs.
Exposure to Indigenous partnership or community engagement.
Technical familiarity with nuclear systems, engineering environments, or regulatory frameworks.
