Registered Psychotherapist / Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) – Independent Contractor
Tahli Mental Health Services is a small and growing mental health practice based in Toronto, providing psychotherapy and psychological assessment services to adults across Ontario. We are looking for a Registered Psychotherapist (RP) or Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) to join our practice as an independent contractor.
This is a flexible, caseload-based hybrid opportunity, with virtual services as well as some in-person psychotherapy from our Toronto office near St. Clair West.
About the role
The clinician will primarily provide individual psychotherapy to adults.
We are particularly interested in clinicians with experience or a strong interest in:
Trauma and trauma-related concerns
- Workplace and occupational trauma
- PTSD and stress-related difficulties
- Intergenerational and historical trauma
- Anxiety, panic, grief, and adjustment-related concerns
- Mental health concerns related to culture, identity, family, community, and systemic experiences
- Neurodiversity-affirming psychotherapy for adults with ADHD and/or Autism
Experience working with Indigenous clients and culturally diverse communities is an asset. We value culturally responsive, trauma-informed, anti-oppressive, decolonial, and neurodiversity-affirming approaches to care.
Responsibilities
- Provide individual psychotherapy to adult clients
- Conduct clinical intake, case conceptualization, treatment planning, and ongoing psychotherapy
- Maintain and regularly update clinical case notes and treatment records
- Prepare case reports, treatment updates, and other clinical documentation when required
- Monitor treatment goals, progress, and functional outcomes
- Communicate professionally with relevant third parties when required and with appropriate client consent
- Work comfortably with structured treatment plans, third-party authorization requirements, and progress reporting
- Maintain appropriate professional boundaries, confidentiality, risk management, and continuity of care
- Collaborate with the clinic team regarding scheduling, documentation, and coordination of client care as appropriate
Qualifications
- Registered and in good standing with CRPO as an RP or RP (Qualifying)
- Master’s-level education in psychotherapy, counselling, psychology, or a related field
- Professional liability insurance
- Strong case conceptualization, treatment-planning, and psychotherapy skills
- Experience or interest in trauma and workplace/occupational trauma
- Familiarity with evidence-informed approaches such as CBT, DBT, trauma-focused interventions, or other relevant modalities
- Strong clinical documentation and professional communication skills
- Experience with intergenerational trauma and culturally responsive care is an asset
- Experience supporting Indigenous and culturally diverse clients is an asset
- Experience supporting adults with ADHD, Autism, or other neurodivergent presentations is an asset
Ability to provide virtual psychotherapy in Ontario
- Willingness to provide some in-person sessions at our Toronto office
RP (Qualifying) applicants
RP (Qualifying) clinicians are welcome to apply. Please note that Tahli Mental Health Services does not provide clinical supervision as part of this contractor position. RP (Qualifying) applicants must have their own external clinical supervisor and remain responsible for meeting all applicable CRPO supervision requirements.
Independent contractor arrangement
This is an independent contractor, fee-for-service opportunity with flexible scheduling. As a small and growing practice, referrals and caseload will depend on client demand, clinical fit, clinician availability, and service requirements. There is no guaranteed minimum number of clients, referrals, or weekly hours, and caseload may develop gradually over time.
The position is hybrid, with virtual work and some in-person availability at our Toronto office. Compensation is based on an independent-contractor fee split and will be discussed with shortlisted candidates.
As a growing clinic, caseloads may build gradually over time rather than immediately.
This role may be ideal for clinicians who:
Are building their private practice
Prefer a flexible, part-time caseload initially
Are comfortable with a slower, steady growth in referrals
What We Offer
- Flexible scheduling and autonomy
- Supportive and respectful work environment
- Opportunity to grow within a developing clinic
- Administrative and platform support (booking, billing systems)
- Compensation & Independent Contractor Terms
- This is an independent contractor position with a competitive fee split (to be discussed based on experience and fit)
As an independent contractor, you will be responsible for:
Arranging and maintaining your own clinical supervision (if required for your registration)
Managing your own tax obligations and filings
Maintaining professional liability insurance
This role offers flexibility and autonomy consistent with independent practice
