Original job description

We’re searching for an Enterprise Architect. Are you searching for new possibilities?

Westland Insurance Group Ltd is growing and has an exciting opportunity for an Enterprise Architect to join our growing team. This hybrid role is based out of our Head Office in Surrey, BC.

Are you passionate about shaping technology strategy and driving real business impact? Do you have 7+ years of experience in IT architecture, and experience in the enterprise space? If so, this may be the role for you! We’re looking for someone who can think strategically, act pragmatically, and help drive change and agile ways of working.

Expected Compensation: The expected hiring range for this role is $150,000- $165,000 with a 35-hour work week. Your rate of pay will be determined based on your individual qualifications and experience, while considering internal equity.

Westland also offers a competitive annual short-term incentive program that enables employees to share in the rewards of the business and emphasizes the measures that are key to our success.

Westland is committed to continuous learning where employees can grow their potential and write the stories of their careers. Financial assistance is available for approved work-related training/development courses leading to certification, and programs that offer professional development, including seminars and conferences.

Discover what’s possible, with Westland.

The Westland story is all about growth, and that means plenty of possibility for everyone on our team. Every day, Westland proves that building a great business means taking care of clients, communities, and each other with equal commitment. As we continue to open new doors, we're inviting amazing people like you to join us.

As our Enterprise Architect, you’ll turn Westland’s vision into clear, actionable technology plans. You’ll connect business and technology across people, data, and platforms to build a cohesive, future-ready architecture.

You’ll balance strategic thinking with hands-on guidance, ensuring our technology not only supports the business but helps drive it forward. You’ll also play a key role in advancing more agile, product-focused ways of working that enable scalability, improved customer experience, and data-driven decision-making.

Interested in learning more?

Why you'll love Westland:

An open, flexible and welcoming workplace
Plenty of opportunities to grow and learn

Be part of our inclusive culture, alongside an extraordinarily talented community of people with a wide variety of backgrounds
A total rewards program that takes care of your financial, physical, and mental health
Flexible paid Values Days to celebrate days important to you
Paid Volunteer Days for employees as part of Amplifying Communities, a program to support causes that matter most to our employees and clients

Why we’ll love You:

7+ years of experience in IT architecture, including at least 3 years in an Enterprise Architect or Lead Solution Architect role
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related discipline
Exceptional communication skills and executive presence, with proven experience partnering with senior leaders (e.g., CIO) and delivering clear, compelling presentations to executive audiences
Proven track record of designing and delivering solutions in public cloud environments (e.g., Azure or AWS), along with building scalable integration strategies (API Management, iPaaS)
Strong expertise in integration patterns, data architecture, and cybersecurity best practices
Hands-on experience modernizing legacy systems while effectively balancing core platforms (such as mainframes or policy administration systems) with modern digital solutions
Familiarity with architecture frameworks (e.g., TOGAF, Zachman) and the ability to communicate complex concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
A strategic, detail-oriented, and highly organized mindset, with the ability to take initiative and excel in fast-paced, dynamic environments

Once here, you'll:

Map business capabilities to technology solutions to identify gaps, overlaps, and opportunities for strategic investment
Analyze key value streams (e.g., Claims, Underwriting) to uncover inefficiencies, reduce friction, and enhance both operational performance and customer experience
Act as a critical bridge between business and technology - translating business needs into technical requirements and articulating technical constraints as business risks and trade-offs
Establish and evolve architecture principles, standards, and guardrails that empower teams to move quickly while maintaining quality, scalability, and security
Lead evaluations of SaaS platforms, vendors, and emerging technologies to ensure strong alignment with integration, scalability, and security objectives
Drive the adoption of modern cloud platforms and architectural patterns, reducing reliance on legacy systems and enabling digital transformation
Partner closely with data and delivery teams to advance AI/ML readiness, ensuring strategies are practical, actionable, and aligned with real-world execution
Partner closely with the CIO and executive leadership to shape technology strategy, delivering clear, compelling presentations and strategic guidance while driving alignment on key architectural decisions
