Westland Insurance Group Ltd. has an exciting opportunity for a Manager, Accounts Payable. This is a hybrid role based out of our Head Office in Surrey, BC.
Expected Compensation: The expected hiring range for this role is $81,429.00 to $101,786.00 based on a 37.5-hour work week. Actual offered salary will depend on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience, as well as market conditions for the role, and internal equity.

As the Manager, Accounts Payable, you'll oversee the day-to-day operations of our Accounts Payable function, ensuring efficient and timely workflows across Payables, employee expense reporting, and business operating expenses. You'll lead a high-volume team in a fast-paced environment, ensuring vendors are paid accurately and on time while maintaining strong internal controls and service standards. As the first point of contact for escalations and the Accounts Payable subject matter expert, you'll provide guidance, resolve issues, and partner with internal and external stakeholders to maintain service excellence.
In addition to day-to-day client support, you'll contribute to corporate People & Performance projects and initiatives, giving you exposure to a variety of priorities and opportunities to make an impact across the organization.

Why we’ll love You:
- A degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or a related discipline is highly preferred
- A minimum of five years of Accounts Payable experience and three years of experience managing a team
- Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders at all levels
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and a demonstrated ability to work with complex, high-volume financial processes
- Highly organized and detail-oriented, with a strong focus on accuracy, timeliness, risk management, and meeting service level expectations
- Comfortable leading through change, with the ability to adapt to evolving business needs, learn new systems, and identify opportunities to improve how work gets done
Once here, you'll:
- Lead, mentor, and develop the Accounts Payable team, delegating work based on capacity, skill sets, and business priorities while managing schedules, coverage, performance goals, coaching, and employee development
- Manage the daily operations of Payables, including invoice coding, ERP batch postings, employee expense reporting, rent payments, and payment processing through EFTs, cheques, and wire transfers, ensuring vendors are paid accurately and on time
- Ensure SLAs and KPIs are consistently achieved, monitor performance metrics, provide monthly updates to the VP, Accounting Operations, and allocate resources to areas requiring additional support
- Maintain a strong internal control environment by ensuring appropriate segregation of duties, approval of goods and services received, compliance with vendor contracts, dual review processes, and accurate and timely month-end and year-end AP activities
- Serve as the Accounts Payable subject matter expert and first point of contact for inquiries and escalations, managing the AP Escalations and ServiceNow tickets while investigating root causes and resolving invoice, payment, and vendor issues
- Build and maintain strong relationships with Finance, Accounting, Operations, Facilities, Branches, business leaders, and external vendors, providing guidance on Accounts Payable processes, approval requirements, internal controls, and oversight obligations
- Lead change management and continuous improvement initiatives, including process optimization, automation, systems improvements, training for new invoice approvers, and projects that improve the efficiency, effectiveness, and scalability of Accounts Payable operations as Westland grows
