Original job description

The Opportunity

Our client is a global technology-enabled research organization that connects leading consulting and investment firms with the specialized industry knowledge and expertise they need to make informed business decisions.

As the business continues to expand across North America, the company is investing in its product, technology, and Client Services teams to support its next stage of growth. That’s where you come in.

Reporting to the Client Services Manager, our client is hiring a Client Services Associate to connect clients with specialized industry experts who can help them make informed business decisions.

As a Client Services Associate, you will manage multiple client requests from initial brief through to identifying, engaging, and qualifying relevant industry professionals. You will work with clients across consulting and investment firms, developing an understanding of their research needs, navigating complex industries, and connecting them with professionals who can provide valuable insights.

This is an outbound, client-facing role that requires strong relationship-building skills, confidence engaging with people over the phone, and the ability to conduct effective research. Success in this role requires a high degree of responsiveness, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage competing priorities and meet tight deadlines.

This is a full-time, hybrid role based in downtown Toronto, requiring you to work in the office on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays.

Why this role

Exposure and growth. Build skills that go beyond the job. Gain hands-on experience in client service, research, business development, and relationship-building while learning from industry experts across a wide range of sectors and seniority levels. You'll develop valuable commercial skills and transferable life skills, from asking insightful questions and building rapport to earning trust, communicating with confidence, and navigating complex business challenges.

Ownership and impact. You will take ownership of client requests from initial brief through to connecting clients with the right industry professionals. Your ability to identify, engage, and qualify experts will directly influence project outcomes, client satisfaction, and team performance. You will have clear individual targets and the opportunity to see the results of your efforts, with an uncapped commission structure that rewards your contributions.

Training and career growth. You’ll join an established team led by an experienced manager, with two weeks of comprehensive training and onboarding to help you build confidence and set you up for success. You will have access to AI-powered research tools, ongoing guidance, and opportunities to learn from experienced colleagues. As you build your skills and demonstrate results, you will have opportunities to take on greater responsibility and pursue career advancement within a growing international organization.

What you will do:

Understand client needs. You will work with clients to understand their research objectives, specific requirements, and the industry expertise they are looking for. You will quickly build knowledge of different markets, businesses, and industries to identify the right professionals who can fill the mandate.
Research and identify industry experts. You will use AI-powered research tools, professional networks, and other sourcing channels to identify individuals with relevant knowledge and experience. You will explore different industries, research potential experts, and develop targeted outreach strategies to connect with the right people.
Engage and qualify professionals. You will spend a significant part of your day proactively reaching out to potential experts through phone calls, emails, and messaging. You will initiate conversations, build rapport, ask thoughtful questions to assess their experience and suitability, and secure their interest in participating in client research projects.
Manage client projects. You will take ownership of multiple client requests simultaneously, coordinating the process from initial brief through to identifying and engaging qualified experts. You will manage competing deadlines, respond to changing priorities, and maintain clear communication to ensure projects progress efficiently and client expectations are met.
Own your performance and deliver results. Take accountability for achieving individual performance targets, managing your daily activity, and prioritizing your efforts to meet deadlines and deliver measurable outcomes. You'll be expected to take initiative, adapt your approach, and consistently work toward your goals.

What you bring to the role:

Intellectual curiosity. You are naturally a curious person who genuinely likes to learn new things and apply new knowledge.
You know how to connect with people. You're confident starting conversations, asking great questions, and are skilled at building rapport with people from different backgrounds. You listen carefully, communicate clearly and persuasively, and know how to adapt your approach to the person and situation.
The drive to deliver results. You're proactive, goal-oriented, and motivated by achieving individual performance targets. You take ownership of your work, measure your progress, and continuously look for ways to improve.
You're not afraid to pick up the phone. You're confident reaching out to people you've never met, initiating conversations, and navigating rejection. You understand that persistence, resilience, and consistent follow-through are essential to success.
The resilience and adaptability. You understand that not every conversation will lead to a positive response, and you can navigate rejection, unexpected challenges, and changing priorities without losing momentum. You can effectively manage your time and maintain accuracy while working under tight deadlines.
You embrace new technology. You're comfortable learning new systems, experimenting with unfamiliar tools, and adapting to new ways of working. You see technology, including AI, as an opportunity to work smarter, solve problems, and improve your performance.
Relevant experience and ambition. You have previous work experience and/or co-op or related business experience in a client-facing role, whether in sales, recruitment, business development, customer service, or another environment where communication, relationship-building, and delivering results matter. You're motivated to build on that experience and grow your career in a commercially driven environment where individual performance is recognized.

Diversity and inclusion are important to our client. We welcome and appreciate candidates with a range of backgrounds and experiences. If you have 70% of the qualifications we are looking for, please apply to express your interest.

Compensation

The annual base salary for this position is $55,000 CAD + commission. We are committed to a fair and transparent compensation process and will share additional details about the overall compensation package during the interview process.
