Original job description

The opportunity

Our client, Realtax, has been a trusted partner to Ontario municipalities for 30 years, helping communities navigate the complexities of property tax arrears with confidence, accuracy, and efficiency. Since 1996, Realtax has supported more than 300 municipalities, processed over $690 million in tax arrears, and built a reputation for exceptional service, specialized expertise, and trusted relationships.

Combining decades of industry knowledge with their proprietary RegDB technology, Realtax simplify complex tax registration and tax sale processes, helping municipalities stay compliant, reduce administrative burdens, and recover outstanding property taxes.

As Realtax enters its next chapter of growth and innovation, the company is building on its established foundation while investing in technology, expanding its services, and exploring opportunities beyond Ontario. This is an exciting time to join an organization that combines specialized expertise, innovative thinking, and meaningful work that makes a difference in the communities it serves.

Reporting to the General Manager, Realtax is hiring a Growth Marketing Manager to establish and lead the in-house marketing function across Realtax and Ontario Tax Sales. As Growth Marketing Manager, you will take ownership of marketing strategy and execution, developing targeted campaigns, creating compelling, industry-specific content, and building a consistent approach to reaching and engaging municipal customers. Working closely with leadership and internal teams, you will translate complex legislation, industry insights, and customer needs into clear, relevant messaging that builds trust, strengthens existing relationships, and creates new business opportunities. You will bring structure to our marketing activities, establish repeatable processes, and develop a scalable marketing approach that supports our continued growth and expansion.

This is a newly created, full-time role working on-site five days a week at Newmarket, Ontario office.

Why this role?

Ownership and influence. This is an opportunity to become the first dedicated marketing hire at Realtax and take ownership of building an in-house marketing function from the ground up. You will have the autonomy to shape marketing strategy, introduce new ideas, establish processes, and influence how the business connects with its customers. Working closely with leadership, you will have the opportunity to see your ideas through from strategy to execution and make a direct impact on business growth.

Meaningful impact. You will join a company that has tripled in size over the past two and a half years and is continuing to expand beyond Ontario. You will play a central role in supporting that growth, strengthening Realtax's presence in the municipal market, building deeper customer relationships, and creating marketing initiatives that generate new business opportunities. Your work will have a visible impact on how both Realtax and Ontario Tax Sales engage their audiences and communicate their value.

Professional growth. You will have the opportunity to build on your marketing expertise while developing a deep understanding of a specialized industry. With responsibility for both strategy and hands-on execution across two businesses, you will gain broad exposure to content development, customer research, campaign management, and growth marketing. As the business continues to expand, there is potential to grow your responsibilities and help build and lead a future marketing team.

You will:

Own and execute marketing strategy. You will take ownership of marketing initiatives across Realtax and Ontario Tax Sales, developing and executing targeted campaigns that support customer acquisition, engagement, and retention. You will build on an existing marketing playbook, establish priorities, and create repeatable processes that support continued growth.
Create compelling, industry-specific content. You will develop clear, relevant, and engaging content that speaks directly to municipal finance teams, tax collectors, and decision-makers. You will translate complex legislation, technical information, and industry challenges into accessible messaging that demonstrates our expertise, builds credibility, and helps customers understand the value of our services.
Build a deeper understanding of our customers. You will conduct customer and market research to understand the needs, priorities, and challenges facing municipalities. You will use these insights to refine our positioning, develop targeted communications, identify new opportunities, and ensure our marketing reflects the realities of the customers we serve.
Drive campaigns and customer engagement. You will plan and execute organic marketing initiatives, including email campaigns, educational content, webinars, and industry events. You will develop outreach and nurturing programs that reflect municipal purchasing cycles, strengthen existing relationships, and generate interest among prospective customers.
Measure and improve marketing performance. You will track campaign engagement, lead generation, and marketing effectiveness to understand what is working and where improvements are needed. You will use customer feedback and performance insights to refine campaigns, strengthen messaging, and identify opportunities to expand into new marketing channels over time.
Build and scale the marketing function. You will work closely with leadership and internal stakeholders to gather insights, coordinate activities, and ensure marketing aligns with business priorities. You will introduce structure, tools, and processes that make marketing more consistent and effective, establishing a foundation that can support future investment, expanded campaigns, and a growing marketing team.

You bring:

The experience. You have a strong background in B2B marketing, with experience developing and executing marketing strategies that support business growth, customer acquisition, and engagement. You have taken ownership of marketing initiatives from planning through execution, ideally in a smaller or growing organization where you have balanced strategic thinking with hands-on delivery.
The content and communication skills. You are an exceptional writer and communicator who can turn complex, technical, or industry-specific information into clear, compelling content for targeted audiences. You know how to research unfamiliar topics, ask thoughtful questions, and develop credible messaging that resonates with decision-makers. You understand the importance of accuracy, particularly when communicating about legislation, regulations, or specialized services.
The marketing expertise. You have hands-on experience developing and managing organic marketing campaigns across channels such as email, content, digital marketing, and events. You understand how to build targeted outreach and nurturing programs, measure campaign effectiveness, and use performance insights to continuously improve results. You are comfortable using marketing technology and AI tools to support your work while maintaining a high standard of quality and accuracy.
The customer focus. You know how to uncover customer needs, understand buying behaviours, and translate market insights into effective marketing strategies. You can adapt your messaging to different audiences and understand how to build trust and engagement throughout longer, relationship-driven sales cycles. Experience marketing to municipalities, public sector organizations, or other specialized B2B audiences would be an asset.
The initiative and ownership. You are comfortable working independently, setting priorities, and bringing structure to an evolving marketing function. You can move between strategy and execution, manage competing priorities, and collaborate with leadership and internal stakeholders to turn ideas into action. You are curious, resourceful, and motivated by the opportunity to build processes, test new approaches, and continuously improve how marketing contributes to business growth.

Compensation

The salary range for this position is $80,000 to $120,000 CAD annually. Final compensation will be determined based on your skills, experience, and qualifications.
