Responsibilities
- Create reports, preliminary and detailed designs for municipal infrastructure including multi-lane highways, collector roads, local roads and bike trails.
- Prepare and review contract specifications, detailed cost estimates, tender documents, request for proposals.
- Review and approve shop drawings.
- Provide contract oversight and administration including overseeing, directing, liaising, and negotiating with contractors or consultants.
- Ensure current design standards are adhered to for design, construction, and operational matters.
- Mentor and assist junior engineers and technical staff in career development and growth.
- Liaise with clients, stakeholders, and contractors/subcontractors.
- Professional Engineer Designation within Ontario (PEO).
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in preliminary and detailed design of municipal projects.
- Demonstrated experience in working with, and gaining approvals from regulatory and environmental agencies.
- Proven experience with AutoCAD, Civil3D, Word, Excel, and MS Project.
- Ability to multi-task while working in a multi-disciplinary team setting.
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
- Experience completing municipal EA studies for road and water infrastructure projects is an asset.

Prepare reports and preliminary and detailed designs for municipal infrastructure projects, and develop or review specifications, cost estimates, tender documents, and proposals. Review shop drawings, oversee contract administration, coordinate with clients and project stakeholders, ensure compliance with design standards, and mentor junior staff.
Requirements
Requires an Ontario Professional Engineer designation and at least eight years of experience designing municipal projects. Candidates must have experience securing regulatory and environmental approvals, proficiency with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Word, Excel, and MS Project, and strong communication and teamwork skills; municipal environmental assessment experience is an asset.
