Our client is a well-established ICI construction company specializing in technically complex projects across the GTA and surrounding areas. Their work includes science and technology, pharmaceutical, healthcare, institutional, manufacturing, laboratory, cleanroom and other specialized environments.
They are looking for a Project Coordinator who is organized, motivated and eager to build a career in construction. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a few years of construction experience who is looking to take the next step and grow within a strong project team.
The Opportunity
This is a hands-on position working closely with Project Managers, Site Superintendents, subcontractors, consultants and clients.
The successful candidate will support multiple projects and help keep project documentation, communication, scheduling and coordination moving forward.
What You'll Do
- Support Project Managers and Site Superintendents with day-to-day project coordination
- Assist with the coordination of construction activities, trades, subcontractors and consultants
- Maintain project documentation, drawings, schedules and correspondence
- Assist with RFIs, submittals, change orders and other project documentation
- Track project schedules, deliverables and outstanding items
- Coordinate communication between project stakeholders
- Attend project meetings and assist with meeting minutes and follow-up items
- Help ensure project information is accurate, organized and up to date
- Assist with procurement, purchase orders and subcontractor coordination
- Support project reporting, cost tracking and general project administration
- Help identify issues and follow up with the appropriate team members
- Work closely with the Project Manager to keep projects moving efficiently
- Develop your construction and project management knowledge through hands-on experience
- Ideally 2–3 years of construction or project coordination experience
- Experience in ICI construction is an asset
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Comfortable working with multiple priorities and deadlines
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to work collaboratively with project teams, trades and consultants
- Strong computer and administrative skills
- Ability to read and understand construction drawings is an asset
- Experience with Procore is an asset
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn
- Strong aptitude for construction project management
- Ability to take initiative and work independently when required
The Projects
Projects typically range from $2M to $10M. The company also takes on larger projects ranging from $15M to $30M+, with projects occasionally reaching significantly higher values.
The work is focused on technically complex ICI environments, including science and technology, pharmaceutical, healthcare, laboratories, cleanrooms and specialized manufacturing facilities.
The Work Environment
This is a project-site-based position.
Project Coordinators generally work from the project sites they support rather than being primarily office-based. Depending on the projects assigned, you may be supporting two or three active projects and spending time at each site throughout the week.
This is an excellent fit for someone who enjoys being close to the construction process and wants to learn by working directly with experienced Project Managers and site teams.
Why Join?
- Opportunity to build a long-term career in construction project management
- Hands-on exposure to complex ICI construction projects
- Work directly with experienced Project Managers and construction professionals
- Opportunity to develop your skills through mentorship and training
- Exposure to specialized sectors including life sciences, healthcare, manufacturing and technology
