Original job description

Victoria, BC

Project Leadership. Community Impact. Career Growth.

Salary Range: $80,000 - $95,000

About The Firm

Our client is a well-established architecture practice based in Victoria, recognized for delivering thoughtful, community-focused design across Vancouver Island and British Columbia. Their diverse portfolio includes public, institutional, commercial, residential, mixed-use, and civic projects, with work ranging from renovations and additions to complex new construction.

Known for their collaborative culture and commitment to design excellence, the firm works closely with clients, consultants, municipalities, and contractors to deliver high-quality projects from concept through construction. As their project portfolio continues to grow, they are seeking a Senior Architect to join their Victoria team.

Why Join This Team?

This is an outstanding opportunity for an experienced Architect who enjoys leading projects from start to finish and building lasting relationships with clients.

You'll have the autonomy to manage projects through every phase while working alongside a collaborative and supportive team that values technical excellence, thoughtful design, and professional growth. The role offers exposure to a wide variety of project types, meaningful client interaction, and the opportunity to play a key role in shaping projects that positively impact communities throughout British Columbia.

About The Role

Our client is seeking a Senior Architect who can independently lead architectural projects from early planning and design through construction administration and project completion.

As the primary point of contact for clients, consultants, municipalities, and contractors, you will oversee all aspects of project delivery, including design coordination, consultant management, municipal approvals, contract administration, and technical quality. You'll manage multiple projects simultaneously while ensuring budgets, schedules, and client expectations are met.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys balancing design leadership, technical delivery, project management, and strong client relationships across a diverse portfolio of work.

Key Responsibilities

Lead architectural projects from concept design through construction administration and project closeout.
Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, municipalities, and project stakeholders.
Coordinate multidisciplinary consultant teams throughout all phases of project delivery.
Prepare, review, and oversee design, development permit, building permit, tender, and construction documentation.
Navigate municipal approval processes, zoning requirements, and regulatory approvals.
Manage project scope, schedules, budgets, and deliverables.
Lead consultant meetings, client presentations, and project coordination meetings.
Conduct construction administration, including site reviews, RFIs, submittals, shop drawing reviews, change management, and field coordination.
Mentor and support junior architectural staff while promoting a collaborative team environment.
Ensure projects are delivered with a high standard of technical quality, design excellence, and client service.

Qualifications

Professional degree in Architecture from an accredited institution.
Registered Architect with the AIBC, or eligible for registration in British Columbia.
8+ years of professional architectural experience.
Proven experience independently managing projects from early design through construction administration.
Experience across a variety of project sectors, including public, institutional, civic, commercial, residential, or mixed-use developments.
Strong understanding of municipal approval processes, BC Building Code, and construction practices.
Demonstrated experience coordinating multidisciplinary consultant teams.
Proficiency with Revit and other industry-standard design software.
Excellent communication, leadership, project management, and client relationship skills.
Highly organized, proactive, and capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously.

What's On Offer

Competitive compensation and comprehensive benefits package.
Collaborative and supportive studio culture, with a 4 day work week
Opportunity to lead diverse and meaningful projects across British Columbia.
High level of project ownership and autonomy.
Direct interaction with clients, consultants, and community stakeholders.
Ongoing professional development and mentorship.
Long-term career growth within an established and respected architectural practice.

If you're a Senior Architect looking for the opportunity to lead projects, build strong client relationships, and contribute to impactful work across British Columbia, I'd love to connect.
