Structural Engineer, P.Eng.

Location: Oxford County, Ontario

Position Type: Full-Time, Permanent

Work Arrangement: In-Office

About The Opportunity

An established structural engineering consulting firm is looking to add a Structural Engineer, P.Eng. to its team in Oxford County. The firm provides structural engineering and design solutions across a diverse portfolio of residential, commercial, and industrial projects.

This opportunity is well suited to an experienced engineer who enjoys a hands-on role spanning structural design, technical analysis, client coordination, and construction-phase support. Working closely with the Principal Engineer and project team, you will contribute to projects from initial concept through design, tender, and construction.

Key Responsibilities

Perform structural design and analysis for a variety of residential, commercial, and industrial projects.
Develop structural designs from concept through detailed design, tender documentation, and construction.
Prepare engineering calculations, technical reports, specifications, drawings, and supporting documentation.
Produce and review structural drawings, including plans, elevations, details, and design specifications, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
Support building permit applications through the preparation of plans, specifications, and related documents.
Interpret site surveys, geotechnical reports, and other technical information to inform design decisions.
Apply the Ontario Building Code (OBC) and relevant structural design standards to project requirements.
Conduct site visits, field reviews, and construction inspections, documenting findings and preparing site reports.
Support contract administration, including shop drawing reviews, contractor submittals, change orders, and responses to requests for information.
Coordinate with clients, designers, contractors, project team members, and external consultants.
Prepare tender packages, contract documents, and other project administration materials.
Work collaboratively with the Principal Engineer while managing assigned projects and responsibilities independently.

Qualifications

Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO).
Bachelor's degree in Structural Engineering or a related discipline from an accredited Canadian university or equivalent.
A minimum of 7 years of relevant structural engineering experience.
Strong knowledge of the Ontario Building Code
Experience applying structural design codes for steel, wood, masonry, and concrete.
Proficiency with CAD software, such as AutoCAD, Revit, or similar platforms.
Familiarity with structural analysis software such as ETABS, SAFE, SAP, or S-FRAME is considered an asset.
Strong understanding of structural design principles, building systems, architectural standards, and construction practices.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
Valid Ontario driver's licence and access to a personal vehicle for site visits.

What The Opportunity Offers

Varied project exposure: Work across residential, commercial, and industrial structural projects.
End-to-end project involvement: Contribute throughout the project lifecycle, from initial design through construction.
Direct collaboration: Work closely with the Principal Engineer and a multidisciplinary group of project stakeholders.
Technical ownership: Apply your engineering expertise across design, calculations, drawing reviews, site inspections, and contract administration.
Established consulting environment: Join a structural engineering firm with a diverse project portfolio and opportunities to contribute directly to project delivery.

Interested in learning more? This could be a great opportunity for a P.Eng. looking to take ownership of a varied portfolio of structural engineering projects while continuing to build their technical expertise and project experience.
