Original job description

Job #16817612

Supervisor / Manager, Public Accounting

North York, ON | In-office ( potential for hybrid during non-busy season)

$90K–$130K + Bonus | Clear Path to Manager and Partnership

Ready for your next step in public accounting?

If you’re a CPA in small to medium sized public practice who is ready for greater autonomy, direct access to decision-makers, and a genuine opportunity to grow into a leadership role, this is worth a conversation.

Our client is a well-established, partner-led CPA firm in North York that is entering an important stage of growth. They are looking for a Supervisor or Manager who wants to become part of the leadership team, not simply manage files. Candidates who have been in a supervisory role, reviewing work or helping partners lead a team, are also a strong fit, as there is potential to progress to Manager more quickly here.

This is an opportunity to step into a visible role, work directly with the partners, build strong client relationships, mentor the next generation of staff, and have a meaningful voice in how the firm evolves.

For the right person, advancement and future partnership are not vague possibilities. They are paths the firm is prepared to discuss.

Why This Opportunity Is Different

You won’t be buried under layers of hierarchy.

You’ll work directly with the partners, take ownership of your clients, have input into processes and firm growth, and be trusted to operate at a senior level.

The firm works with a broad mix of privately held businesses, entrepreneurs, real estate organizations, foundations and not-for-profit clients across the GTA, giving you exposure beyond one narrow service line.

If you’re coming from a larger firm and want more visibility and influence, or from a smaller firm where you’ve hit a ceiling, this could be a very interesting next step.

What You’ll Be Doing

Take ownership of a diverse portfolio of privately held and owner-managed clients
Lead or support audit, review and compilation engagements from planning through completion
Review financial statements and working papers under ASPE
Prepare and review corporate, personal, trust and partnership tax returns
Advise clients on accounting, tax and technical matters
Work directly with partners on planning, advisory work and special projects
Review, mentor and develop junior and intermediate staff
Strengthen client relationships and identify opportunities to expand services
Contribute ideas around processes, technology and how the firm continues to grow
Play an active role in building the firm’s future leadership bench

What We’re Looking For

CPA designation
4+ years of progressive public accounting experience
Experience in a supervisory role, reviewing work or helping partners lead a team
Strong hands-on experience with audit, review, compilation and Canadian tax
Solid ASPE knowledge
Ability to manage engagements from start to finish with increasing independence
Experience reviewing work and mentoring junior staff
Strong client-facing and relationship-management skills
Someone comfortable taking ownership and operating with autonomy
An interest in longer-term leadership, a faster path to Manager, and potentially partnership

What’s In It for You?

$90K–$130K base salary, depending on experience
Bonus potential
Direct access to the partners
High level of autonomy and visibility
Opportunity to build and grow your own client relationships
Broad exposure across assurance, tax and advisory
Potential to progress to Manager more quickly, with a genuine path toward partnership

This is particularly well suited to someone who enjoys public accounting but wants more control over their career, more influence within the firm, and a clearer picture of what comes next.

If you’re ready to move beyond simply managing files and want to explore a role where you can help shape the future of a firm, I’d love to speak with you.
