We are searching for a Human Resources Summer Student to join our team. Reporting to the Manager, Human Resources, you will support a variety of HR programs with a focus on recruitment, onboarding, and employee development. This role offers hands-on experience in talent acquisition and HR operations through recruitment support, onboarding enhancements, employee resources, training coordination, and leadership development initiatives. You will also help maintain organized file structures, document HR processes, and contribute to a variety of special projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
This is a summer student position based out of Calgary, working from our office 5 days per week. This position is full-time from May to August 2027.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support a variety of Human Resources programs, with a focus on recruitment, onboarding, employee development, and talent initiatives.
- Assist with recruitment activities, including creating job postings, conducting resume reviews, candidate pre-screening, and supporting recruitment reporting and metrics.
- Contribute to onboarding and employee experience programs by updating welcome guides, checklists, FAQs, and other employee resources.
- Develop and maintain HR content and resources to ensure employees and leaders have access to clear, accurate, and user-friendly information.
- Support leadership development and mentorship programs through coordination, communications, and resource management.
- Assist with training and development initiatives, including scheduling, logistics, resource library maintenance, and program administration.
- Support talent review and succession planning activities through data analysis, reporting, and preparation of presentation materials.
- Maintain organized HR records, file structures, and process documentation.
- Participate in ad-hoc projects and continuous improvement initiatives that enhance HR programs, processes, and the employee experience.
Key Skills:
- Previous administrative, customer service and/or oil and gas work experience is considered an asset
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office and SharePoint
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills, with the ability to communicate professionally with a variety of stakeholders
- Ability to build strong relationships with others, ensuring prompt customer service
- Strong interpersonal skills with a demonstrated desire to learn and develop their skills
- Enthusiastic, motivated and flexible to complete varied tasks
- Ability to responsibly handle confidential information
Minimum Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in an undergraduate bachelor’s degree program, preferably in Human Resources or a related degree program
- Must be returning to full-time studies upon completion of the work term
- Must attach your most recent unofficial or official transcript with your application to be considered
- Available to work full-time in our Calgary office for the duration of the 4-month work term
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada
- The successful candidate will be required to provide satisfactory references and pass a criminal background check
