Key Responsibilities
Cost Reduction
- Identify and implement cost-saving measures for existing products, including sourcing alternative components, simplifying manufacturing processes, and optimizing material usage.
Product Enhancements
- Identify and implement minor design changes to improve product performance, reliability, and manufacturability.
- Conduct feasibility studies and develop prototypes for potential product enhancements.
- Support the transfer of new or improved products to manufacturing.
Project Leadership
- Lead and manage the complete lifecycle of assigned engineering projects from concept and feasibility studies through market launch.
Component Obsolescence Management
- Identify and evaluate potential obsolescence issues for electronic and mechanical components.
- Develop and implement mitigation plans to address component obsolescence risks.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Manufacturing, Quality, Clinical, Regulatory, and Marketing teams to communicate and exchange technical information effectively.
Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA)
- Analyze existing product designs and identify opportunities to improve manufacturability and assembly processes.
- Implement design changes that reduce manufacturing costs, improve yield, and increase production efficiency.
Engineering Documentation
- Update and maintain engineering drawings, specifications, and test procedures.
- Document design changes, test results, and investigations in accordance with established quality system requirements.
Project Planning and Execution
- Develop comprehensive project plans, including timelines, project activities, dependencies, and milestones.
- Monitor execution and track progress against project plans.
Risk Management
- Identify, assess, and proactively mitigate project risks.
- Develop and implement contingency plans to address unforeseen challenges.
Technical Expertise
- Maintain a strong understanding of applicable engineering principles, medical device technologies, and industry best practices.
Additional Responsibilities
- Manage design reviews and ensure technical deliverables meet defined specifications.
- Oversee Design Verification and Validation (DV&V) activities.
- Support compliance with quality and regulatory requirements throughout the product lifecycle.
Salary Range - CA$ 90,000 - CA$ 100,000 Per Year
