Core Competencies
Competency What Good Looks Like
Leadership Creates clarity and accountability across multiple teams without relying on direct authority.
Risk-based judgement Prioritises testing based on business impact, technical complexity and residual risk.
Technical credibility Can challenge designs, scenarios and evidence across network, security, cloud and end-user domains.
Execution discipline Maintains traceability, controls, evidence and timely decisions throughout the delivery lifecycle.
Communication Converts detailed test results into concise, decision-ready reporting for senior stakeholders.
Collaboration Builds effective working relationships across engineering, operations, business teams and vendors.
Indicative Success Measures
- Approved test strategy and integrated plan in place before formal execution begins.
- Full traceability for in-scope requirements and agreed acceptance criteria.
- Critical test dependencies, constraints and risks identified early and actively managed.
- No production deployment proceeds without documented readiness evidence and an accountable decision.
- Defect trends, residual risks and exceptions are visible and understood by decision-makers.
- Pilot and migration outcomes are captured and used to improve subsequent deployment waves.
Recommended Operating Model
Position the role as a program Test Manager reporting to the Program Manager, with a strong working relationship to the Technical Delivery Lead. The Test Manager should lead an integrated test function made up of workstream test leads, internal SMEs, business representatives and vendor testing resources.
For NMP, dedicated test leadership should be assigned at minimum across SASE and end-user connectivity, campus and SD-WAN, and enterprise perimeter and infrastructure. The central Test Manager owns integration, governance, consistency, evidence and programme-level readiness decisions
Roles & Responsibilities
Position Summary
The NMP Test Manager is accountable for governing and coordinating the end-to-end testing strategy across the Network Modernization Program, including SASE, campus networking, enterprise perimeter services, Equinix colocation infrastructure, identity integrations, end-user experience, operational readiness and production migration assurance.
The role provides a single point of accountability for test planning, execution oversight, quality reporting and evidence-based go/no-go recommendations. It coordinates internal technology teams, business stakeholders and implementation partners to confirm that solutions are technically sound, operationally supportable and ready for controlled production deployment.
Role outcome: A consistent, traceable and risk-based test approach that supports confident pilot, migration and production decisions across NMP.
