Original job description

Currently working with a well-established real estate organization in Vancouver that is looking to add an Accounting Manager to their team.

This is a great opportunity for someone with a background in real estate accounting who enjoys having ownership over a portfolio of properties and development assets. Reporting into the Controller, you’ll work closely with the wider finance team and other departments, with responsibility across full-cycle accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, cash flow, and property/development accounting.

Key Responsibilities:

Prepare and review monthly and annual financial statements, journal entries, accruals, and supporting schedules
Manage bank reconciliations, accounts payable/receivable, tenant payments, and rental charges
Prepare lender financing packages, development draws, and construction progress claims
Monitor cash positions, project cash flow, receivables, and property-level financial activity
Manage GST and other tax-related reconciliations and remittances
Prepare quarterly management reporting and consolidations across a portfolio of assets
Support lease administration, rental advice notices, and tenant-related accounting
Lead and coordinate annual budgeting for assigned properties
Support year-end audit and tax preparation processes
Assist with property acquisitions, new property setups, sales/dispositions, and related closing activities
Ensure financial, investor, lender, project, and corporate reporting requirements are met
Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, procedures, and efficiencies

What They’re Looking For:

3+ years of real estate accounting experience
Development accounting experience is a strong asset
CPA designation or progress toward CPA is an asset
Strong Excel and overall computer skills
Experience with Yardi is an asset
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
Strong communication and relationship-building skills
High level of professionalism and integrity
