Original job description
About TBX Pay
TBX Pay is a Canadian company registered with FINTRAC as a Money Services Business. We’re building a payments platform that makes it easier for international students, and the families who support them, to manage tuition, accommodation, and everyday living costs through fast, transparent, and secure cross-border payments.
The Role
We’re looking for a Money Laundering Reporting Officer to serve as TBX Pay’s designated compliance officer under FINTRAC. You’ll own our AML/ATF compliance program end to end, from the policies and procedures already in place through to ongoing monitoring, reporting, and training as we scale.
What you’ll do
Act as TBX Pay’s designated Compliance Officer / MLRO for FINTRAC purposes, including suspicious transaction reporting and regulatory liaison.
Maintain and evolve our risk-based compliance program: policies and procedures, the business-wide risk assessment, and the recurring effectiveness review.
Design and deliver staff training on AML/ATF obligations.
Review and approve higher-risk activity, including transactions and relationships flagged for enhanced due diligence.
Act as the escalation point for compliance concerns raised internally, including under our whistleblower and anti-bribery policies.
Oversee compliance boundaries for partner and referral programs (for example, ensuring our student ambassador/referral program stays within FINTRAC’s referral-only rules and doesn’t inadvertently create agent/mandatary obligations).
Liaise with our banking partner on compliance matters as needed.
What we’re looking for
Solid AML/compliance experience in a Canadian regulated environment (MSB, payments, fintech, or banking), with working familiarity with FINTRAC’st regime for MSBs.
Comfortable building and running a compliance function in a small, fast-moving team, not just operating within an established one.
CAMS or equivalent AML certification is a plus, not a requirement.
Based in Toronto; this is an on-site role.
Compensation: Competitive, commensurate with ex
perience. To apply, please send your CV and a short note on your FINTRAC/AML background to Gemma.baggett@eliter.co.uk
