The Electrical Operations Engineer will serve as the primary engineering point of contact for compressor station assets within an assigned geographic area, working across disciplines to support day-to-day operations and improve asset safety and reliability. They will also provide broader electrical expertise to the team as needed and contribute to system-wide electrical operational initiatives.

This role offers the opportunity to work within a high‑performing, multidisciplinary team and to collaborate closely with experienced engineers, field specialists, and commercial operations personnel.

This position provides a unique opportunity for hands‑on field engagement, supporting day‑to‑day compressor station operations while developing a strong foundation in safety, operational excellence, and technical execution. The experience is designed to support the growth of well‑rounded engineers who bring practical insight, sound technical fundamentals, and a strong commitment to safe and reliable operations.

What you'll do

  • Perform data gathering and engineering analyses to support issue resolution, facility health assessments, root cause investigations, and risk assessments, with appropriate technical oversight as required.
  • Provide field‑based operational troubleshooting support for new and ongoing issues, including site visits and collaboration with senior reliability specialists and engineers.
  • Analyze operational and engineering data to identify underperforming assets, systemic issues, and opportunities to improve equipment reliability and maintenance practices.
  • Facilitate operational decision-making risk assessments for compression facilities.
  • Support the development and execution of treatment plans focused on reducing asset‑level and system‑wide risk.
  • Conduct alternatives analysis and provide technical scoping recommendations, along with operational support for capital and expense projects, to ensure risks and proposed solutions within annual programs are effectively mitigated.
  • Drive Management of Change (MOC) development and implementation, including contributing to engineering design activities under appropriate technical oversight.
  • Assist in the development, review, and updating of TC Energy maintenance and operating procedures.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited institution; Electrical Engineering is preferred, though candidates from other disciplines, including Mechanical, Chemical, and Civil Engineering, will be considered.
  • Registered, or eligible to register with, APEGA as a Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) in good standing
  • 5-10 years of progressive relevant engineering experience
  • Demonstrated ability to initiate change and help others adapt to a continuously changing work environment
  • Proven ability to drive short-term and long-term technical solutions to complex and ambiguous problems
  • Experienced with engineering principles, codes, and standards to identify issue and recommend improvements
  • Ability to recognize and adapt to changing business priorities

Preferred Qualifications

  • Electrical engineering background preferred, with a passion for compressor station operations and reliability and a willingness to work across disciplines to resolve operational challenges and improve asset performance.
  • undefined
  • Experience with motor control centres (MCC), auxiliary power unit (APU) generators, variable frequency drives, motors, transformers, lighting, cabling, wiring, and grounding is highly desired.
  • Troubleshooting skills, including familiarity with all aspects of facility operation
  • Failure investigation and root cause determination and interpretation of damage mechanisms
  • Familiarity with norms and standards related to equipment reliability, safety, and risk management
  • Time management skills and ability to work independently, including at field locations
  • Previous maintenance process and system development experience

This position requires candidates to:

  • Have and maintain a valid driver's license and provide a driver's abstract (record) for review
  • Stay away from home base overnight which will include living in and maintaining company camps or housing (~30% of the time)
