TD’s Core Platform Party1 Product Group is seeking a talented Software Engineer II to support mission-critical applications including CIF (CustomerLink) , PRTCL (Party API ) and others. This role offers the opportunity to work on scalable, secure, and high-performance systems that underpin TD’s customer data and regulatory compliance platforms
We are seeking a skilled Mainframe Software Engineer II with experience in Host/Mainframe technology. This ideal candidate will have strong development skills and experience working in Host environments. You will play a key role designing, developing, and optimizing Party1 applications while ensuring scalability, security, and performance. Candidate will be responsible for providing technical leadership within POD.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Conduct deep-dive analysis of host applications to identify business needs, impacts, dependencies, and solution options.
- Analyze existing mainframe applications and architecture to determine impacts, dependencies, risks, and solution options.
- Collaborate with business, architecture, engineering, and delivery teams (PODs) to translate requirements into well-documented technical designs.
- Produce design documentation, technical specifications, solution recommendations, and implementation approaches.
- Participate in effort estimation and impact assessments to support planning and delivery commitments.
- Serve as a subject matter expert for host applications, particularly with COBOL, IMS, DB2 and related host platforms.
- Lead end-to-end solution design activities, ensuring alignment with TD's internal policies, security, and standards.
- Perform technical investigations, root cause analysis, and research of existing host applications to support modernization and enhancement efforts.
- Partner with development teams to guide implementation, review technical solutions, and ensure alignment with design, while remaining hands-on with system analysis and research activities.
- Support API integration initiatives between distributed and host systems, including REST-based services.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Undergraduate degree, Post Graduate degree or Technical Certificate in Computer engineering
- 7+ years of experience in Mainframe technologies, including COBOL, IMS, DB2, z/OS, and Endevor.
- Strong expertise in IMS and DB2 database technologies
- 7+ years of experience in application design, systems analysis, and end-to-end solution development and deployment.
- Proven experience in architecture, technical design, and solution development for large-scale enterprise applications.
- Strong understanding of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Agile delivery methodologies.
- Hands-on experience with mainframe development tools, frameworks, and host ecosystem technologies.
- Demonstrated ability to research complex host applications, analyze legacy systems, and produce clear technical documentation and recommendations.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and investigative skills with the ability to navigate large, complex systems.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to document technical concepts and present findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience providing strong technical leadership to the Pod, along with mentoring, and knowledge transfer within the development Pods.
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
- Ability to work independently, conduct technical analysis, perform impact analysis, and influence solution design and delivery decisions.
- Experience working with REST APIs and integrating distributed applications with host systems.
Nice To Have
- Experience in JAVA, REST API, Oracle, SQL Server Database
- Knowledge on Event Hub, Kafka or equivalent
- Experience with Azure cloud environments
- Familiar with observability tools like Datadog
- Experience with Autosys for jobs scheduling
- Experience working on Banking Domain Projects
