Job Description:

Customer

Manages and optimizes the flow of value across the Agile Release Train or Product Group as an integrated delivery system, ensuring predictable outcomes aligned to Program Increment objectives.
Owns ART‑ or Product Group‑level PI readiness, including coordination of Vision, Roadmaps, Features, and release sequencing
Facilitates and governs PI Planning, System Demos, and synchronization forums to maintain cohesion across teams and domains
Actively manages and resolves cross‑team dependencies, risks, and systemic impediments, balancing delivery trade‑offs to protect predictability
Summarizes and publishes Program‑level PI Objectives, ensuring alignment to enterprise priorities, objectives, and strategic outcomes
Tracks and interprets delivery metrics and trends to identify systemic issues and intervene proactively
Provides delivery guidance at the ART or Product Group leadership level, ensuring decisions remain feasible, compliant, and aligned
Partners with Product, Technology, Architecture, Operations, and control functions to align execution with governance and risk expectations
Coaches execution standards and escalation practices across teams while remaining an individual contributor focused on orchestration, not people management

Shareholder

Protects shareholder value by actively managing delivery risk and performance at the ART or Product Group system level, balancing commitments, predictability, and governance expectations.
Applies enterprise and industry best practices to optimize release and delivery performance across the ART or Product Group
Contributes to the evolution of delivery, engineering, and service practices by providing system‑level feedback and insights
Establishes and interprets delivery metrics and trends to identify systemic risks and intervene early
Leads or participates in cross‑Product Group or Product Family activities to resolve complex delivery risks and dependencies
Partners with governance, risk, compliance, and audit groups to ensure delivery decisions align with enterprise standards and risk appetite
Monitors emerging regulatory, operational, and delivery risks and incorporates impacts into planning and prioritization
Actively manages and escalates high‑risk issues that threaten enterprise commitments, timelines, or outcomes
This role protects shareholder interests through system‑level risk management and trade‑off decisions, consistent with the layered RTE model

Breadth & Depth

Applies deep delivery and orchestration expertise to optimize performance of the Agile Release Train or Product Group as an integrated delivery system, operating across teams, domains, and dependencies.
Serves as a system‑level Release Train Engineer, accountable for coordinating and optimizing delivery across multiple agile teams within an ART or Product Group
Demonstrates comprehensive understanding of delivery processes, planning cycles, dependencies, and system interactions required to manage ART‑level flow
Coordinates and governs ceremonies, backlog readiness, and release activities to ensure cohesive Program Increment execution across teams
Actively manages and resolves cross‑team and cross‑domain impediments, including architectural, sequencing, and delivery constraints
Ensures alignment between Program Increment objectives, delivery plans, and realized outcomes across the ART or Product Group
Creates an environment where teams can escalate risks and challenges early, reinforcing disciplined escalation and transparent decision‑making
Applies best practices and informed judgment to resolve complex delivery problems and identify viable system‑level solutions
Begins to influence beyond immediate teams by shaping execution standards, coordination practices, and delivery discipline across the ART
Contributes directly to assigned Journey or Platform outcomes while relying on RTE III roles for system‑of‑systems alignment and guardrails
This role owns ART‑level delivery optimization but does not operate at system‑of‑systems altitude, consistent with the business‑defined layered RTE model

Experience and/or Education

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a related field such as Information Technology, Computer Science, or Business Administration
Advanced experience (typically 3+ years) in Agile delivery roles such as Release Train Engineer, Scrum Master, Agile Coach, Product role, or equivalent system‑level coordination role
Certified SAFe Release Train Engineer (RTE), SAFe Program Consultant (SPC), Certified Scrum Master (CSM), or equivalent Agile certification
Proven experience (3+ years) using Agile management and delivery tools to support ART‑level planning, tracking, dependency management, and execution transparency
Typically requires 7+ years of overall Agile‑related experience, including experience operating in scaled or multi‑team delivery environments
Demonstrated experience coaching and supporting multiple agile teams within an ART or Product Group, focused on execution standards and disciplined escalation
