Job Description:

The Corporate Actions Department's primary responsibilities are to ensure that all mandatory and voluntary corporate action events by: corporations, crown, federal, provincial, municipal and private issuers are announced, acted upon and transacted to each of the various business line account holders. Events can be simple and straight forward or complex with multiple options and further complicated with taxability and structure of transactions announced on the event.

The department is made up of 3 specialized groups –"Voluntary - Notification, Tendering and Processing" "Mandatory - Notification and Processing" and the "Call Centre-for Corporate Action, Income processing and Physical Securities". These groups deal with all types of corporate action events on a multitude of securities, held in various locations - depositories, agents and or in physical form.

The environment is fast pace, requiring individuals with; strong organization skills, close attention to detail, market knowledge, tax knowledge, ability to multi-task and technical skills in working with systems, spreadsheets and using macros.

Job Description

Voluntary Notification, Tendering and Processing Officer primary function is to gather client instructions on all voluntary corporate action events, and then to successfully create notices to inform clients of Corporate Actions, tender the client held securities to depository and/or company agent, based those instructions. Each of the voluntary events have strict deadlines on submission of securities, therefore officer need to be well organized and be able to adhere to these strict deadlines.

In advance and prior to the expiry of any voluntary event, officer is required to ensure that they read and fully understand all pertinent information on the voluntary event, including trading information and depository details. This ensures that all issues are addressed prior to expiry date and payment date.

Upon payment, officer would then process account holder payment correctly, accurately and based on terms and taxability of the voluntary event and the payment received. With some events having a large client based, officer will be required to be able to work with spreadsheets containing large amounts of data and ensure that all payments from depository/agents are balanced and reconciled to the aggregate payment of all account holders.

Job requires officer to be familiar with systems to capture client instructions, depository system, reconciliation systems, various book of record systems and MS excel.

Job Requirements

Well organized, detailed oriented, demonstrate a strong work ethic, with a positive attitude, be self-motivated, be a forward thinker, be able to communicate well both written and verbally, resourceful and have industry experience.

Demonstrate an interest in how they've developing themselves and how they can be innovative.

MS Office (Excel and Word) advance skills and knowledge of ISM, SEI, and OIS would be an asset.

Required to work Canadian holidays

Undergraduate degree or completion of the Canadian Securities Course or other related financial industry course would be an asset.
