About the Role:

Currently, Technica is seeking a motivated individual to join our growing team as a Human Resources Business Partner reporting to the Saskatchewan Area Manager.

Technica Mining is the largest Canadian-owned underground mining contractor in Canada, and we are building something new in Saskatchewan. As we establish our presence across Saskatchewan, we are looking for a strategic HR Partner who doesn't just want a seat at the table but wants to help build it.

This is a true ground-floor opportunity. Based out of our Saskatoon office, you will be the first HR support on the ground: hiring the founding workforce that launches our Saskatchewan operations and putting in place the people practices that will carry the region for years to come. You won't be building alone: you will have the full support of the Technica Mining Human Resources Head Office, with established standards, tools and expertise behind you. As the team takes shape, your focus will evolve from building the workforce to strengthening it with the opportunity to become the go-to advisor, employee relations lead and culture ambassador for our regional senior leadership team. Few HR roles let you shape a business from day one and then stay to see it thrive. This one does.

The key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Phase 1: Build the Team

Lead the recruitment and onboarding of Technica's founding Saskatchewan workforce, from skilled trades and underground crews to supervisors and site leadership, ensuring each project has the people it needs to succeed.
Design and execute regional talent attraction strategies, building strong pipelines with post-secondary institutions, trades training providers, employment agencies and Indigenous employment partners.
Establish the region's HR foundation by rolling out Technica's HR policies, processes and systems, ensuring they are compliant with Saskatchewan employment legislation and work in the regional context.
Partner with the Area Manager on the structure of the new region, bringing an organizational design lens to how roles and teams are built.
Set up accurate regional people data and reporting from day one, including headcount, turnover and vacancies, so decisions are made on real numbers.

Phase 2: Grow the Culture

Serve as the trusted HR advisor to the Area Manager and regional leadership team, providing candid, practical advice on people decisions, capability and risk.
Lead employee relations and workplace conflict resolution, addressing issues early, fairly and consistently with policy before they become formal.
Support workplace investigations and disciplinary processes to Technica's standard.
Coach managers and supervisors on performance, feedback and development, and lead the region's performance and development cycle.
Build the regional talent and succession pipeline alongside the Area Manager.
Own regional retention: understand why people stay and why they leave, and act on it.
Continue to lead regional recruitment, keeping the talent pipeline healthy as projects grow.
Champion Technica's culture and RICH² values across the region.

Qualifications:

5–7 years of progressive HR experience; proven experience in recruitment and employee relations, or in an HR Generalist role, is preferred.
CPHR designation (or equivalent, such as CHRL) or actively working towards it.
Post-secondary degree or diploma in Human Resources, Business or a related field.
Experience in mining, construction or heavy industry is strongly preferred; experience in the potash and uranium sectors is considered an asset.
High-volume recruitment experience, particularly for skilled trades or remote and rotational workforces, is considered an asset.
Start-up, greenfield or regional expansion experience is considered a strong asset.
Strong working knowledge of The Saskatchewan Employment Act, workers' compensation; knowledge of Manitoba legislation is an asset.
Experience resolving workplace conflict and conducting or supporting workplace investigations is considered an asset.
Experience working with Indigenous communities and employment partners is considered an asset.
Excellent communication, coaching and relationship-building skills, with the courage to give candid advice and the discretion to handle confidential matters.
A self-starter who thrives in building something from the ground up with limited existing structure.
Willingness to travel to project sites across Western Canada including occasional trips to Technica HQ in Ontario. Must possess a valid driver's licence.
