The client is seeking an experienced Senior Software Developer API to design, develop, implement, and maintain enterprise-level APIs, web applications, and system integrations. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in Java development, RESTful APIs, enterprise integration platforms, API security, and relational databases, with the ability to deliver scalable, secure, and high-performing solutions in complex enterprise environments. The successful candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop technical specifications, implement integrations, troubleshoot application issues, and support the full software development lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, implement, and maintain RESTful APIs and enterprise integration solutions.
  • Translate technical system specifications into functional, tested applications.
  • Develop programming specifications, write code, and conduct unit testing.
  • Design and implement APIs using enterprise API management platforms such as IBM API Connect, MuleSoft, Apigee, and Azure API Management.
  • Integrate APIs with enterprise applications, databases, CRM systems, ERP platforms, and case management solutions.
  • Convert web services between SOAP and REST architectures when required.
  • Develop and maintain API documentation using OpenAPI (Swagger), YAML, and related standards.
  • Implement API authentication and authorization mechanisms using OAuth 2.0, JWT, API keys, and TLS.
  • Configure API gateway policies, including rate limiting, throttling, caching, logging, and request/response transformation.

Must-Have Skills

  • 10+ years of experience designing and developing large-scale enterprise web applications.
  • 10+ years of hands-on Java development with Oracle or SQL databases.
  • 5+ years of REST API and RESTful Web Services development.
  • Strong experience with API security: OAuth 2.0, JWT, SSL/TLS certificates, and API gateways.
  • Hands-on experience with enterprise API integration and management platforms such as IBM API Connect, IBM ACE, MuleSoft, or Azure APIM.
  • Strong understanding of microservices, RESTful architecture, and enterprise integration patterns.
  • Solid experience with Agile methodologies and SDLC.

Nice-to-Have Skills

  • Experience integrating with SharePoint, Microsoft Dynamics CRM, Siebel, or Curam.
  • Knowledge of Apigee, Swagger/OpenAPI, and YAML.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, DevOps, and cloud platforms.
  • Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Experience with event-driven architecture, messaging queues, and middleware/ESB.
  • Previous experience with Ontario Public Service (OPS) projects.
  • Knowledge of AODA accessibility and OPS cybersecurity standards.
