Original job description

Business Development Manager, Managed IT & Cybersecurity

Location: Kelowna, British Columbia

Type: Full-Time, Permanent

Compensation: Competitive base + excellent commission

The Opportunity

Tired of waiting for leads? Good. Neither are we.

We’re looking for a hunter. Someone who sees a room full of small business owners and thinks “that’s my pipeline.” If that’s you, keep reading.

Tech sales is one of the best careers going: real products, real problems solved, and pay that actually rewards what you put in. This role is your ground-floor shot at it.

About the Company

We’re recruiting for a locally owned, founder-led Managed IT and Cybersecurity company in Kelowna. They run and protect the technology behind small and mid-sized businesses across the Okanagan, Thompson Valley and Kootenays: dental and medical clinics, law and financial firms, wineries, contractors and more. It’s a small, sharp team with enterprise-level experience, and they’re ready to bring in the person who will take their growth to the next level.

What You’ll Be Doing

You own new business, start to finish. You find the owners, open the door, run the free IT assessment that kicks off the relationship, and take the deal from first conversation to signed agreement. Small team, founder who wants to grow, and you help build the sales function from the ground up.

Hunt your own pipeline across Kelowna, West Kelowna, Vernon, Penticton and the wider Interior
Run discovery calls, free IT assessments and proposals for managed IT, cybersecurity and Microsoft 365/Azure
Be the face of the company at networking events, chamber meetings and in-person client visits
Team up with the founder and technical team to scope solutions and close deals
Own your numbers: track your pipeline in the CRM and forecast like you mean it

Is This You?

You’re self-driven and motivated by finding clients. Nobody has to hand you a lead list. You’re comfortable being the face of a small company, you’ve sold into Okanagan small businesses before, and you’ve got a network and a reputation to build on. You want to build something, not just carry a quota.

Key Requirements

A hunter mentality and a track record in B2B or SMB sales, generating your own opportunities
Okanagan SMB sales experience (key) (we are open to less or more exp here)
Experience selling services or solutions, ideally IT, telecom, software or other recurring-revenue offerings
Consultative selling instincts: great questions, smooth objection handling, confident closing
Self-starter who stays organized and on top of your pipeline and follow-ups
Valid BC driver’s licence and a reliable vehicle for local travel

Bonus Points

Background selling managed services, cybersecurity or Microsoft solutions
Basic technical understanding of IT services. Full training provided, curiosity matters more than certifications Experience in regulated verticals like healthcare, legal or financial services
CRM experience (HubSpot, Zoho or similar)

What’s in It for You

Competitive base. An excellent commission model on top. Big earning potential for someone who goes out and gets it. And a long-term growth path as the company scales.

This is a rare chance to get in early with a growing local company and build something real, with true ownership of your results. Ready to go hunting?

Responsibilities

Requirements

Candidates should have a track record generating their own opportunities in B2B or SMB sales, ideally with experience selling services or recurring-revenue solutions and familiarity with Okanagan small businesses.
