Original job description
Director, Application, Data & Integration | Dynamics 365 · AI-Assisted Engineering (Claude Code) ·
Downtown Vancouver (Hybrid)
TEEMA Group is partnering with a well-established, growing Vancouver-based professional services firm to hire a Director, Application, Data & Integration. It’s a rare chance for an engineering-minded technology leader to build modern application, data and integration capabilities from the ground up and shape the future of technology across the firm.
The opportunity
You’ll build and lead the firm’s enterprise application, data and integration capabilities. A key part of the mandate is transforming how the development team works through AI-assisted engineering, automation and modern DevOps, delivering major gains in productivity and delivery speed. You’ll also build the firm’s data engineering and analytics capability and own the integration architecture that connects its core systems, as part of a broader technology modernization strategy.
The ideal candidate
- Comes from a software engineering background. You’ve written production code and still think like an engineer, not just a manager of engineers.
- Has real Dynamics 365 experience, ideally leading or architecting implementations, integrations or extensions on the Dynamics and Power Platform.
- Uses AI coding tools hands-on, such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot or similar, and has used them to measurably speed up development, testing and documentation for a team.
What you’ll do
- Application strategy and architecture: lead technical direction across the application landscape, set architecture and lifecycle standards, guide solution design, and oversee implementation partners.
- Engineering discipline, DevOps and AI: mature development standards, source control, code review and testing; establish CI/CD and release management; embed secure development; and lead adoption of AI-assisted development across the team.
- Integration architecture: own integration standards and approaches for APIs and system-to-system data exchange, making sure integrations are secure, resilient and well monitored.
- Dynamics 365 leadership: provide technical leadership for a major Dynamics 365 transition, working with product owners and implementation partners, and build internal capability to support and extend the platform.
- Data and analytics: develop the enterprise data architecture, build data engineering capabilities, and set approaches for master data, data quality and lineage so the firm has consistent, trusted reporting.
- People leadership: build and lead a multidisciplinary team spanning development, integration, QA, data engineering and analytics, balancing internal staff, partners and specialized contractors.
- Security and operations: partner with IT Operations to build security, resilience and data protection into everything the team delivers.
What you bring
- Progressive technology leadership across enterprise applications, software engineering, integration and data
- A track record of building or maturing software engineering and DevOps practices (CI/CD, automated testing, secure development, application lifecycle management)
- Strong knowledge of modern application architecture, APIs, integrations and cloud platforms
- Experience in data architecture, data engineering, analytics or BI
- Experience leading multidisciplinary technical teams and external technology partners
- Excellent communication skills with both technical teams and business leaders
You’ll thrive here if you are: a builder who’s comfortable creating capabilities that don’t yet exist, disciplined about engineering but pragmatic about delivery, and forward-looking on how AI and automation can change the way technology is delivered.
- Work arrangement: hybrid, with 3 days a week in the downtown Vancouver office and 2 days from home (hybrid begins after the probationary period).
