THE OPPORTUNITY

Our client, an established Canadian manufacturer of innovative industrial products, is seeking a Marketing Analyst to support its Product Manager in the planning, development, launch, and lifecycle management of its product portfolio.

This is a highly collaborative, product-focused role responsible for gathering, researching, analyzing, organizing, and communicating critical product and market information to support strategic decision-making and successful product development. The Marketing Analyst will take ownership of key activities including product documentation and requirements, market and competitive research, Voice of Customer reporting, beta testing administration, product performance analysis, and product information management.

Working cross-functionally with Product Management, Engineering, Operations, Quality, Sales, and Marketing, the Marketing Analyst will help ensure customer requirements, market intelligence, technical specifications, and business objectives are accurately captured and communicated throughout the product lifecycle.

This is an excellent opportunity for an analytical and detail-oriented professional who enjoys working with technical or engineered products and wants to play an integral role in turning market insights and customer needs into successful product strategies and development initiatives.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Product Research & Market Intelligence

Conduct ongoing research into market trends, emerging technologies, customer applications, and relevant industry developments.
Research new product opportunities, adjacent product categories, and emerging market segments.
Monitor industry standards, regulations, certifications, and technological developments that could impact the organization’s products and markets.
Research competitor patents, product launches, acquisitions, partnerships, and other strategic initiatives.
Prepare research summaries, insights, and recommendations to support product strategy and innovation planning.
Provide the Product Manager with data-driven insights regarding product opportunities, market trends, and future market direction.

Product Documentation & Requirements Management

Develop, maintain, and control Product Requirements Documents (PRDs) and Customer Requirements Specifications (CRS).
Prepare business cases, presentations, stage-gate materials, product summaries, and supporting product development documentation.
Ensure product documentation accurately captures customer needs, technical/product requirements, and overall business objectives.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders to review documentation and coordinate updates throughout the product development lifecycle.
Maintain organized, accurate, and current product information and documentation.

Competitive Intelligence & Market Analysis

Support and maintain a structured competitive intelligence program across key product lines.
Monitor competitor products, pricing, technical specifications, marketing activities, patents, new product launches, and technology developments.
Conduct detailed product feature and specification comparisons against key competitors.
Prepare regular competitive intelligence reports, findings, and recommendations.
Identify emerging technologies, changing market trends, competitive threats, and potential market opportunities.

Voice of Customer & Product Research

Organize and maintain Voice of Customer (VoC) information gathered through customers, distributors, Sales, and other channels.
Consolidate customer, distributor, and market feedback into clear, actionable reports and recommendations.
Identify recurring customer needs, product issues, improvement opportunities, and emerging trends.
Assist with customer surveys, distributor interviews, and other product and market research initiatives.
Prepare regular Voice of Customer reports and trend-analysis summaries to support product decisions.

Product Development & Stage-Gate Support

Support the Product Manager in developing and maintaining documentation throughout the product development process.
Coordinate stage-gate review activities, documentation, and stakeholder requirements.
Work cross-functionally with Engineering, Operations, Quality, Sales, and Marketing throughout the product development lifecycle.
Contribute to the continuous improvement of product development processes, documentation, and reporting.

Beta Testing & Product Validation

Assist with planning and coordinating beta testing programs, working with Product Management and Engineering to establish objectives and requirements.
Develop beta test plans, evaluation forms, surveys, and reporting templates.
Coordinate communications and activities with beta test participants.
Collect, organize, and analyze beta testing feedback and results.
Prepare beta testing summaries and communicate findings, trends, and recommended actions to internal stakeholders.

Product Performance & Lifecycle Support

Monitor, analyze, and report on product performance metrics.
Assist with forecasting analysis and product investment evaluations.
Support ongoing product lifecycle management, including product updates and end-of-life planning.
Provide data and analysis to support product performance reviews and future product decisions.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree in business, Engineering, Technical Communications, Marketing, Business Analysis, or related field required
Additional certification in Business Analysis, Product Management, Project Management, Technical Writing, or Market Research preferred
3+ years of experience in business analysis, product development, technical documentation, product support, engineering administration, market research, or related role
Experience working within manufacturing, industrial products, or engineered products environments preferred

SKILLS

Strong technical writing and documentation skills

Ability to gather, organize, and communicate complex information
Strong market research and competitive analysis skills
Ability to develop structured product and business requirements
Excellent organizational and project coordination skills
Ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders

Intermediate understanding of product development and stage-gate processes
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and business reporting tools
Must speak and read English expertly.
Limited travel as required for product testing, customer visits, tradeshows, or research activities
