Mechanical Engineer

Location: Port Coquitlam, BC

Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent

Work Arrangement: On-site

Salary: $90,000 - $115,000 base salary + benefits

About the Opportunity

TEEMA is partnering with an innovative industrial technology organization developing next-generation battery-electric equipment for demanding heavy-industry applications.

Their Vancouver-area Advanced Engineering team is working at the forefront of electrification, developing and testing new equipment designed to transition traditionally diesel-powered machinery toward battery-electric platforms.

We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer who enjoys hands-on engineering, multidisciplinary design, and solving practical problems across mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and vehicle systems.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong mechanical fundamentals who wants to develop deeper expertise in electric vehicle and advanced equipment design.

What You'll Be Doing

You will work closely with a multidisciplinary engineering team and contribute throughout the design and development lifecycle.

Responsibilities may include:

  • Developing detailed 3D mechanical models and assemblies
  • Designing components and systems using SolidWorks, Creo, or similar 3D CAD platforms
  • Creating manufacturing and shop drawings
  • Developing and maintaining bills of materials
  • Supporting layout and integration of electrical controls and components
  • Routing hydraulic lines, cooling systems, cables, and wire harnesses
  • Assisting with electrical and hydraulic schematics
  • Researching and sourcing components
  • Supporting prototype development and testing
  • Producing clear and detailed engineering documentation
  • Collaborating with electrical, controls, manufacturing, and engineering teams
  • Troubleshooting design and integration challenges during equipment development

What We're Looking For

  • Engineering degree, robotics diploma, mechanical technology diploma, or comparable technical education
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and practical understanding of mechanical systems
  • Experience with SolidWorks, Creo, or another professional 3D CAD platform
  • Basic understanding of electrical circuits and controls
  • Strong technical documentation skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple engineering priorities
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to learn complex technical systems quickly

Nice to Have

Experience with any of the following would be considered an asset:

  • Electrical schematic design
  • Industrial controls
  • Battery-electric vehicle systems
  • Prototype equipment development
  • Hydraulic or cooling system design
  • Heavy equipment or heavy-duty vehicle engineering
  • Advanced CAD functionality such as routing or PLM
  • CAN bus communication systems
  • Hands-on mechanical assembly, fabrication, maintenance, or troubleshooting

Why Join?

You will join a highly technical engineering team developing emerging battery-electric technologies for large-scale industrial applications.

The organization offers:

  • Competitive salary and benefits
  • Flexible scheduling
  • Catered meals
  • Company events
  • Employee wellness programs
  • Significant opportunities to develop expertise in battery-electric vehicle and equipment design

This is a highly hands-on engineering environment where professional growth is closely tied to your ability to learn, solve problems, and take ownership of increasingly complex engineering work.

TEEMA is committed to presenting qualified candidates fairly and equitably. Compensation within the stated range will depend on relevant experience, technical capabilities, qualifications, and expected level of responsibility.
