Intermediate Software Engineer

About the Company

A fintech software company building the next version of its core wealth and portfolio management platform. The product supports investment operations workflows such as portfolio accounting, custody, securities data, and performance, and the engineering team works closely with product, UX, business analysis, QA, and client-facing implementation teams.

The stack is Python, FastAPI, React, TypeScript, and PostgreSQL, deployed on Azure, with AI coding agents built into everyday development.

The Role

This is a hybrid, full-time product engineering role for an intermediate full stack developer ready to own features end to end. You will take scoped work from requirements through design, build, testing, release, and production support, with senior engineers and architects available when a problem calls for it. The right person enjoys learning a complex financial domain, writes clear specs before writing code, and uses tools like Claude Code, Cursor, or Copilot to move faster while still owning every line that ships.

What You Will Do

• Deliver product features across Python backend services, APIs, background jobs, and React/TypeScript front ends, from first conversation to production
• Translate business requests into written implementation plans with business rules, acceptance criteria, edge cases, and test steps that work for both teammates and AI agents
• Use AI coding agents for exploration, refactoring, debugging, and test generation, then verify the output through tests, type checks, linting, and code review
• Model and query PostgreSQL data, write efficient SQL, and troubleshoot query performance, transaction, and data quality issues in production
• Improve tests, documentation, CI/CD, and repository context so the codebase gets easier for people and agents to work in safely

What You Bring

• 3+ years of professional software engineering, or clear evidence you can ship production features on your own
• Strong Python with FastAPI or a similar framework, plus solid grounding in REST, typing, async, testing, and dependency management
• Hands-on React and TypeScript experience, working HTML/CSS, and PostgreSQL skills covering data modelling, joins, indexes, and transactions
• Practical use of AI coding tools such as Claude Code, Codex, Copilot, or Cursor, and the ability to explain how you give an agent context and check its work
• Exposure to Git, CI/CD, Docker, Linux, or Kubernetes and a cloud platform, ideally Azure; FinTech, wealth management, enterprise B2B SaaS, or OAuth/OIDC/SAML experience is a plus
