Test Engineer – MDM & Data Quality

Role Overview:

Teqfocus is seeking a Test Engineer with strong functional testing, SQL, data validation, and test automation experience to support master data management (MDM) and data integration initiatives. The role involves validating complex data flows across systems, ensuring accuracy and consistency of master records, and collaborating with cross-functional teams in an Agile delivery environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and execute test scenarios, test cases, and test data for functional, integration, regression, and end-to-end testing.
• Write and optimize SQL queries to validate source-to-target records, identify missing or duplicate values, and reconcile data discrepancies.
• Validate ETL pipelines, data mappings, transformations, migrations, integrations, interfaces, and data-quality rules.
• Test MDM processes including master record creation, hierarchies, matching and merging, duplicate detection, survivorship rules, and golden-record generation.
• Build, enhance, and maintain automated test cases for data validation, APIs, and relevant application workflows; integrate tests with delivery processes where applicable.
• Log and track defects with reproducible evidence, investigate root causes with developers and data teams, and verify fixes through retesting.
• Collaborate with business analysts, developers, data engineers, and product owners to understand requirements, clarify acceptance criteria, and report test outcomes in Agile/Scrum teams.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Hands-on experience in both functional testing and test automation, including authoring and maintaining reliable automated tests.
• Strong SQL skills for joins, aggregations, reconciliation, duplicate detection, and source-to-target data validation.
• Practical experience with ETL, data integration, data migration, and data-quality testing across enterprise systems.
• Working knowledge of MDM concepts: master data, golden records, hierarchies, match-and-merge logic, and survivorship rules.
• Ability to test APIs and data interfaces, investigate issues systematically, and document defects and evidence clearly.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum delivery teams and using defect tracking tools such as Jira.
• Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder collaboration skills; ability to work from the Toronto-area office twice weekly.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Exposure to Informatica MDM, Reltio, TIBCO EBX, Stibo, or a comparable MDM platform.
• Hands-on REST API testing using Postman or similar tools.
• Insurance or financial-services domain experience, especially with customer, broker, policy, or product data.
• Performance or volume testing for large-scale data loads, batch jobs, or integrations.
