What To Expect
We’re seeking a motivated, hands-on engineer with an electrical engineering background to join our Geartrain Manufacturing Team. This group designs and builds production lines for geartrains within Optimus Actuators.
The ideal candidate takes pride in their work, has excellent engineering and physics fundamentals with hands on experience, is excited about manufacturing equipment and process development, does not shy away from a challenge, highly organized, has great attention to detail, and is able to work in fast paced development environment. with analytical and practical engineering focus.
This role requires up to ~20-25% domestic and international travel.
What You'll Do
Develop fully automated manufacturing lines from first principles, optimizing cost, lead time and complexityResearch, specify, and integrate electrical test equipment including measurement tools, power supplies, sensors, and I/O devices to verify and validate manufacturing equipment ahead of production launch and during productionDesign and review NFPA79/NEC/UL508A-compliant industrial electrical control panelsImplement and validate OSHA- and ISO-compliant industrial safety systems for high-voltage and mechanical hazardsDebug and optimize automated processes to improve reliability, reduce cycle time, and maximize uptimeCharacterize and validate manufacturing equipment and test processes using statistical methods such as GR&R and CpkReview line layout concepts to finalize electrical scope for individual machines and the lineUtilize EPLAN for design and developmentReview electrical drawings and calculate power loads for equipment and sub-components used in production line equipmentDesign and implement equipment safety as per international and local codes and Tesla standards
What You'll Bring
Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience5+ years of hands-on controls/mechatronics/test/automation engineering experienceExperience specifying electrical test equipment including but not limited to power supplies, multimeters, oscilloscopes, and power analyzersProficiency building complex machine schematics in EPLAN, AutoCAD Electrical, or similar electrical CAD softwareExposure to automation in an industrial/manufacturing environment
