Original job description

Senior Security Consultant

Location: Ottawa, Ontario

Type: Full-time, permanent, existing vacancy

About the role

Attain is a Canadian technology consulting firm specializing in Security, Door Hardware, IT, Telecom, and Audio-Visual systems for commercial, institutional, and government buildings. We are looking for an experienced Senior Security Consultant to lead security consulting and design engagements from first workshop through project closeout.

You'll be the trusted advisor our clients rely on, a technical leader for our Security Team, and a key contributor to growing our security practice.

What you'll do

Lead the design of integrated electronic security systems, including access control, video surveillance, intrusion detection, duress and intercom, and their supporting networks.
Manage security projects across the full lifecycle: needs analysis, concept and schematic design, detailed design, construction documents, tender support, construction administration, commissioning, and closeout.
Conduct / Overview Threat and Risk Assessments (TRAs), physical security audits, and site surveys, and turn findings into clear, practical recommendations.
Facilitate stakeholder workshops to uncover operational, functional, and technical requirements.
Lead door hardware coordination and review, working closely with architects and hardware consultants.
Author and review specifications, reports, drawings, bills of materials, cost estimates, and scopes of work.
Review and coordinate drawings produced in AutoCAD and Revit, and collaborate with our IT, Telecom, and AV Teams on integrated, multidisciplinary designs.
Represent Attain in meetings with clients, architects, engineers, contractors, and end users.
Prepare proposals, fee estimates, and bid responses, and support business development for the Security discipline.
Mentor fellow Team members and perform peer reviews of security designs.
Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, partners, and manufacturers.

What you bring

15+ years of combined experience in security consulting, design, and systems integration, including leadership on large or complex projects.
University degree or college diploma in a relevant technology or engineering discipline, or equivalent experience.
Strong working knowledge of access control, video surveillance, intrusion detection, and IP networking fundamentals.
Experience with TRA methodologies and physical security best practices.
Solid knowledge of the National and Provincial Building Codes and associated standards (CSA, ULC, NFPA).
Ability to read, interpret, and produce technical drawings and specifications.
Understanding project budgets, fees, contracts, and delivery models (Design-Bid-Build, Design-Build, P3/DBFM).
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with confidence presenting to clients and executives.
Proficiency in MS Office; experience with Bluebeam, Visio, and Adobe Acrobat.
Current, and ability to maintain, Government of Canada Secret security clearance.
Valid driver's license and ability to travel to client sites.

Assets

Bilingualism (English / French)
Professional certifications such as PSP, CPP, CPTED, or AHC/DHI
Québec and/or British Columbia Security License
BICSI or network certifications
AutoCAD and/or Revit drafting skills
Experience with federal government clients (PSPC, DND, RCMP, or similar) and Harmonized TRA (HTRA) methodology
Manufacturer training on major access control and video surveillance platforms

What we bring to the table

Meaningful work on high-profile projects across Canada, including federal, institutional, and commercial facilities.
A multidisciplinary team where you'll collaborate daily with IT, Telecom, and AV experts.
A Team that is invested in each other's success. You will always have someone in your corner.
A nurturing, inclusive environment where everyone feels valued. Our bus always has room for more, because a diverse team is essential to our success.
Competitive benefits, maternity leave top-ups, a Health Spending Account, a Retirement/Savings Plan (DPSP), and regular management touch-bases.
We hire for fit. Culture matters to us, and we want people who align with our values.

Compensation

Compensation will be commensurate with experience and qualifications; and will be disclosed to qualified candidates during the interview process.
