Original job description

Hybrid | Toronto preferred, with access to offices in Toronto, Stratford, and Thorold | Hybrid | Occasional Travel | $90,000-100,000 annual salary + Benefits

About BMI Group

BMI Group is a growing, multidisciplinary organization with a diverse portfolio spanning real estate investment and development, environmental remediation, design, construction, hospitality, residential and commercial projects, industrial ventures and emerging businesses.

Our work brings together different industries, brands and project types, creating an environment where teams have the opportunity to work across a broad range of challenges and creative opportunities.

The Opportunity

We’re looking for a Senior Graphic Designer to join our growing creative team and bring exceptional visual judgment, design craft and creative thinking to the BMI Group portfolio.

This is a hands-on role for a designer who enjoys taking an idea from the first brief and concept through detailed execution and final production. You’ll work closely with the Creative Director, design team and business leadership to develop visual communications across brand identity, campaigns, print, digital, signage, environmental graphics, presentations and more.

With BMI’s diverse portfolio of businesses and ventures, no two projects are quite the same. You’ll have the opportunity to work across different brands, audiences and environments while helping establish and evolve the visual presence of the organization.

What You’ll Do

Develop and execute high-quality creative across brand identity, campaigns, print, digital, signage, environmental graphics, presentations and marketing materials.
Lead projects independently from brief and concept development through design, refinement and final production.
Develop strong visual concepts and design systems that translate cohesively across multiple applications and touchpoints.
Bring exceptional standards of typography, composition, imagery, colour, hierarchy and visual storytelling to every project.
Create and evolve brand identities and thoughtfully extend established brand systems across new applications.
Partner with the Creative Director, design team and business leadership to translate strategic and business objectives into effective creative solutions.
Prepare production-ready artwork and collaborate with printers, fabricators and other external partners to bring approved designs to life.
Manage multiple projects and priorities while maintaining a consistently high standard of creative quality.

What You Bring

You’re an experienced designer with strong visual instincts, excellent attention to detail, and the confidence to take ownership of a project from concept through completion.

You bring:

7+ years of professional graphic design or multidisciplinary design experience.
A strong portfolio demonstrating excellent visual design, conceptual thinking and consistently high-quality execution.
Exceptional skills in typography, composition, layout, colour, imagery and visual storytelling.
Experience developing brand identities and visual systems across multiple applications.
The ability to work within established brand systems while knowing when and how to thoughtfully evolve them.
Strong experience across both print and digital design, with an understanding of production requirements for each.
Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud, particularly InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop.
Experience preparing production-ready files and working with printers, fabricators and other production partners.
The ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and maintain a high standard of creative quality.
A degree or diploma in Graphic Design, Communication Design or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
A portfolio is required. Please include a link to your online portfolio with your application.

Why This Role

This is an opportunity to do more than produce individual design pieces. You’ll have the chance to help shape how a diverse group of businesses and ventures are presented visually, working across brands and projects that span very different industries and environments.

You’ll have meaningful creative ownership, close collaboration with senior leadership and the opportunity to contribute to work that moves from concept into the real world.

Working at BMI

Hybrid working environment, with Toronto as the preferred home office and access to offices in Stratford and Thorold.
Collaboration across BMI Group locations, entities and project teams, both in person and virtually.
A multidisciplinary environment supporting multiple businesses, developments and ventures simultaneously.
Flexible working environment that supports work-life balance, with occasional schedule flexibility around launches, events and major project milestones.

Travel Requirements

Occasional travel to BMI properties and project sites may be required to support planning, launches, and key project milestones.
Rare travel to locations across Ontario and Canada may be required based on project needs.
Rare overnight travel may be required.

Inclusivity & Accommodations

BMI Group is committed to building an inclusive workplace and encourages applications from all qualified individuals. If you require accommodation at any stage of the recruitment process, please let us know, and we’ll work with you to meet your needs.

Hiring Process

We review applications based on the qualifications and experience relevant to the role. A portfolio is required and will be an important part of the selection process.

We do not use artificial intelligence to screen, assess, or make hiring decisions as part of our recruitment process.

Selected candidates will be contacted to discuss the opportunity and next steps in the hiring process.
