About BMI Group

BMI Group is a growing, diversified organization with interests spanning real estate investment and development, construction, environmental services, hospitality and emerging ventures.

Our teams work across a range of businesses, properties and projects, creating an environment where no two projects are quite the same. As BMI Group continues to grow, we’re building the creative, marketing and digital capabilities needed to support that growth and create strong, distinctive experiences across our portfolio.

The Opportunity

We’re looking for a Senior Web & Digital Designer to lead the design of digital experiences across BMI Group and its growing portfolio of businesses and ventures.

This is a design-led, hands-on role for someone who combines exceptional visual design with strong UX/UI thinking and an understanding of how digital experiences support business objectives.

You’ll lead website and digital design from concept through site architecture, wireframing, UX/UI, prototyping and final design, then work with external development partners through build, QA and launch.

Working closely with the Creative Director, design team, marketing team and business leadership, you’ll translate brand, audience and business objectives into sophisticated digital experiences that support property sales and leasing, tenant attraction, lead generation, hospitality bookings, business development and other growth opportunities.

What You’ll Do

Lead the design of websites and digital experiences across BMI Group and its entities, from concept through launch.
Translate business goals and audience needs into site architecture, user journeys, wireframes, UX/UI and conversion-focused experiences.
Create sophisticated, brand-led digital experiences with exceptional standards for visual design, typography, imagery, layout, interaction and craft.
Design digital experiences that support tenant attraction, property sales and leasing, lead generation, bookings and business development.
Develop scalable digital design systems and frameworks that support new acquisitions, developments, businesses and ventures while maintaining distinct brand identities.
Create developer-ready designs, prototypes and specifications, and provide creative direction to external web developers through build, QA and launch.
Collaborate with the Creative Director, design team, marketing team and business leadership to align digital experiences with brand, creative and business objectives.
Review existing digital experiences and recommend improvements based on user needs, business objectives and performance.
Contribute to the development of digital design standards, systems and processes as BMI Group continues to grow.

What You Bring

7+ years of professional web and digital design experience, supported by a strong portfolio.
Exceptional skills in visual design, typography, composition, imagery, branding and digital storytelling.
Demonstrated experience taking sophisticated websites from site architecture and wireframing through UX/UI, prototyping and final design.
Strong understanding of responsive design, accessibility, information architecture, user journeys and conversion-focused design.
Experience designing around commercial objectives such as lead generation, sales, leasing, bookings and conversion.
Advanced proficiency in Figma, including wireframes, prototypes, components and scalable digital design systems.
Proficiency in relevant Adobe Creative Cloud applications.
Experience preparing developer-ready designs, directing external developers, reviewing builds and maintaining design quality through implementation.
Working knowledge of CMS platforms, SEO, analytics and website performance. Coding expertise is not required.
Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and collaborate across creative, marketing and business teams.
Degree or diploma in Digital Design, Graphic Design, Interaction Design or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
A portfolio showcasing relevant web and digital design work is required.

Why This Role

This is an opportunity to do more than design individual websites. You’ll help shape the digital presence and design standards of a growing organization, working across different brands, industries, audiences and business objectives.

You’ll have the opportunity to influence projects from the earliest stages, collaborate with creative and business leaders, and see your work move from concept through development and into the real world.

Working Environment

Hybrid role, with Toronto as the preferred home office and access to BMI Group offices in Stratford and Niagara.
Collaborative, multidisciplinary environment supporting multiple businesses, brands, developments and ventures.
Regular collaboration with creative, marketing, business development and operational teams.
Flexible working environment that supports work-life balance, with occasional schedule flexibility around launches, events and major project milestones.
Travel to BMI properties and project sites may be required for planning, launches and key project milestones.
Rare travel elsewhere in Ontario or Canada may be required based on project needs.
Occasional overnight travel may be required.

Inclusivity & Accommodations

We’re committed to building an inclusive workplace and encourage applications from all qualified individuals. If you require accommodation at any stage of the recruitment process, please let us know, and we’ll work with you to meet your needs.

Hiring Process

We’re interested in understanding both what you create and how you approach your work. Please include a link to your online portfolio with your application, showcasing relevant web and digital design work. Your portfolio should demonstrate your experience with digital design, UX/UI and, where applicable, responsive design, design systems and work that connects design to business or conversion objectives.

Selected candidates will be invited to participate in an interview process designed to explore their experience, creative approach, digital design capabilities, and fit with the role.

As part of our commitment to a fair and consistent recruitment process, BMI Group does not currently use artificial intelligence to screen, assess, or make hiring decisions as part of our recruitment process.
