Original job description

Business Development Representative ($85,000 to $95,000 OTE)

Vancouver, BC | Hybrid Model (Mondays WFH)

$50,000 to $54,000 base salary + uncapped commission ($85,000 to $95,000 OTE)

Build Your Sales Career at The Bullpen

The Bullpen is a high growth B2B sales company working with some of North America's fastest growing technology companies.

We help businesses build their sales pipelines through outbound business development, representing clients across SaaS, AI, ERP, CRM and other technology sectors.

We're in a massive growth phase and are building out our team quickly, with plans to significantly increase our headcount over the coming months.

That means there is a lot of opportunity for people joining us now.

We're looking for people who want to become sales professionals. You don't need years of sales experience. You do need the right attitude, work ethic and willingness to learn.

If you're someone who wants to be coached, takes feedback on board and genuinely wants to get better, we'll invest in you.

Growth at The Bullpen

Whether you're someone who is purely sales motivated, a go getter who loves chasing targets and maximizing your earning potential, or someone who sees themselves as a future leader, we want to help you become that person.

Our goal is to develop the communication, prospecting, discovery and commercial skills you'll need to build a long term career in sales.

And we don't expect you to figure everything out on your own.

From your first day, you'll receive training and guidance to help you understand the role, our clients and what success looks like.

You'll benefit from:

Structured onboarding with clear expectations for your first 30, 60 and 90 days.
Regular coaching and feedback from your manager.
Opportunities to review your performance, identify areas for improvement and set new goals.
Exposure to experienced sales professionals and different approaches to outbound selling.
Opportunities to apply for internal positions as the company continues to grow.

If you show up, take feedback, improve day by day and consistently put the work in, we want to give you opportunities to grow into an Account Executive or managerial position as the business scales and you prove yourself in the BDR chair.

Progression will depend on performance, development and the opportunities available as we grow.

Exposure to Multiple Industries

Another main advantage we have at The Bullpen is that we represent a multitude of clients across a multitude of sectors.

Whether SaaS is your thing, you're interested in learning more about AI products, or you want to gain experience with ERP systems, CRM platforms and other technologies, we can give you that knowledge and experience to add to your skillset.

Rather than working with one product in one industry, you'll have the opportunity to learn about different businesses, technologies and markets.

And this is something we're constantly growing and expanding in. Who knows who and what we'll be working on next!

You'll gain an understanding of how different companies operate, what challenges they face and how their products provide solutions.

You won't just grow financially. You'll grow your skillset and as an individual.

Culture Matters Here

We're a big team environment with a competitive edge.

We want people who enjoy working alongside others, pushing themselves and celebrating each other's wins.

At The Bullpen, we have five core values:

Commitment: See it through.

Ownership: Step up and own it.

Ingenuity: Find a way or make one.

Team Over Ego: No lone wolves.

Progress Over Perfection: Ship it, then sharpen it.

We care about hitting quotas, but we also care about the small improvements you make day by day.

Better conversations.

Better questions.

Better calls.

Better habits.

We encourage people to ask questions, share ideas, support their teammates and take ownership of their development.

We're competitive, but we want everyone to succeed.

And yes, we're also a dog friendly office!

If you're willing to put the work in and want to improve, there is a huge amount of room to grow.

What You'll Be Doing

Generate New Business

Make at least 150+ outbound calls per day to prospective customers.
Speak with decision makers and create genuine business conversations.
Book qualified meetings for our clients.
Build confidence and consistency in outbound sales.

Work with B2B Technology Companies

Work across campaigns for different technology companies.
Learn new products, industries and buyer personas.
Adapt your approach depending on the client and prospect.
Understand different businesses and communicate the value of their solutions.

Qualify Opportunities

Ask strong discovery questions.
Understand a prospect's business needs and challenges.
Identify whether there is a genuine opportunity.
Ensure meetings are properly qualified before passing them to the client.

Take Ownership

Manage your daily activity and pipeline.
Keep records accurate and up to date.
Follow up consistently.
Work towards individual and team targets.
Take responsibility for your own performance and development.

Who We're Looking For

We're looking for people who want to build a career in sales.

You might already have sales experience. You might be coming from hospitality, customer service, retail, sport, recruitment or another competitive environment.

You might have no sales experience at all....

What matters to us is:

You're competitive and enjoy pushing yourself.
You're comfortable speaking to people and picking up the phone.
You're coachable and genuinely want feedback.
You're willing to put in the work.
You take ownership of your results.
You're resilient when things don't go your way.
You're a team player who wants to see others succeed.
You're willing to try new approaches and learn from mistakes.
You want to improve day by day.
You want to build a career in B2B technology sales.

Previous sales or BDR experience is an asset, but it is not a requirement.

If you have the right attitude and want to become a sales professional, we're willing to help you get there.

Compensation & Rewards

$50,000 to $54,000 base salary depending on experience

$85,000 to $95,000 OTE

Uncapped commission

Your commission has no ceiling. The more you develop your skills and perform, the more you can earn.

We also like to reward people who go above and beyond.

Each month, the team competes for The Belt, with a cash prize of $800 to $1,000 on top of your commission.

(There's an actual gold belt that spins like John Cena's... cool, right?)

Previous team prizes have included:

Seattle Seahawks tickets
Paid trips to Tofino
Team dinners paid for by management

Benefits & Perks

Health Benefits: Extended health, dental and life insurance coverage after three months for eligible permanent employees.
Hybrid Working: Work from home on Mondays, with our team based in our Yaletown office Tuesday to Friday.
Career Development: Structured onboarding, regular coaching and opportunities for internal progression.
Industry Exposure: Gain experience across multiple technology sectors rather than being limited to one product.
Dog Friendly Office: Just when you thought it couldn't get any better.
Team Culture: A competitive, supportive environment where individual achievements and team wins are celebrated.
