Operated by Urgo Hotels & Resorts Canada, The Clayfield delivers a highly personalized, refined guest experience grounded in calm luxury, craftsmanship, and a strong sense of place.

The Financial Controller is responsible for the overall financial management and accounting operations of The Clayfield, including its independently operated food and beverage business, ensuring accuracy, accountability, and transparency across both operations. Reporting to the General Manager, this role oversees accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cash management, and internal controls, while working collaboratively with hotel leadership, ownership, and operating partners to support sound financial decision-making and overall business performance.

This position will appeal to a detail-oriented finance leader who values ownership, structure, and the opportunity to play a key role in the financial success of a dynamic luxury hospitality operation.

What You’ll Do

  • Support all pre-opening financial setup, including systems, chart of accounts, banking structure, and financial workflows
  • Oversee all hotel and food and beverage accounting functions including accounts payable, receivable, payroll coordination, general ledger, and financial reporting
  • Prepare monthly financial statements, forecasts, and annual budgets, maintaining accurate and transparent P&L reporting
  • Lead the annual budgeting process and ongoing forecasting, ensuring alignment with hotel operations and ownership expectations
  • Act as a key business partner to the General Manager and department leaders, providing financial insight to support operational decision-making
  • Establish and enforce internal controls, policies, and procedures to safeguard assets and ensure compliance
  • Manage cash flow, banking relationships, and daily cash positioning for the property
  • Oversee billing, collections, and credit processes, and ensure accurate revenue reporting through night audit oversight and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Manage all brand-related financial obligations, including fees, reporting, and compliance requirements

What You’ll Bring

  • 5+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience within a hotel or hospitality environment
  • Strong understanding of hotel financial operations, including revenue flows, departmental expenses, and reporting structures
  • Experience with hotel systems such as Opera, POS systems, and accounting platforms
  • High level of accuracy, organization, and attention to detail, with a strong sense of ownership over financial results
  • Strong leadership and communication skills with a collaborative, solutions-oriented approach
  • Ability to translate financial data into clear insights for operational teams and support performance-driven decision-making
  • Comfort working in a pre-opening environment where systems and processes are being established, with a proactive and structured mindset
  • Professional judgment, integrity, and discretion in handling financial matters, with a commitment to maintaining strong controls and financial standards
  • Hands-on approach with the ability to balance strategic thinking and day-to-day execution

Why Join Us

  • Competitive compensation and a comprehensive benefits package designed to support your well-being and long-term growth
  • A rare opportunity to build and shape the financial foundation of a brand-new luxury hotel
  • Work within a collaborative environment supported by ownership, Urgo Hotels & Resorts Canada, and Hyatt
  • Access to Hyatt colleague travel benefits
