The Great War Flying Museum, operated by the Ontario Aviation Historical Society, is a not-for-profit volunteer member organization and is registered and authorized to issue tax receipts to all donors.
The GWFM was founded in 1970 by a group of Brampton Flying Club members. All of the founders were pilots, mostly private but several airline pilots as well. Besides being pilots all absolutely loved aeroplanes and WW1 aeroplanes in particular.

Our museum of World War One artefacts is paired with a hangar full of replica WWI aircraft that actually fly!
We are looking for volunteers to welcome visitors and answer questions. You don’t need to be a World War One buff or aviation expert! Our members learn from each other, and that’s part of the fun of volunteering at the museum.
Jobs to be done include
- welcoming visitors & handling admissions
- administering merchandise purchases
- giving tours of our hangar
- giving tours of our artefact museum
The museum is open from Victoria Day weekend to Labour Day
Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays 11 00 to 4 00
Tuesdays and Thursdays 11 00 to 3 00
We are in particular need of volunteers on weekends.
