Contact – Dave Banns (dbanns@theheadhunters.ca)
Are you the type of professional who enjoys winning projects just as much as delivering them?
This opportunity is ideal for an engineer who enjoys developing client relationships, winning work, leading teams, and delivering successful projects. If you're looking for a role where you can make a tangible impact while maintaining a healthy balance between career and personal life, please read on.
About the Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to join a growing team specializing in ground improvement, foundation support, earth retention, and geotechnical construction solutions throughout Western Canada. Working on complex infrastructure, industrial, commercial, and development projects, you'll play a key role in both securing new opportunities and leading successful project execution.
This is more than a traditional project management role. You'll be involved from the earliest stages of client engagement, estimating, and proposal development, through to project delivery and closeout. It's an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys building relationships, solving technical challenges, and taking ownership of projects from bid to build.
Most importantly, this role offers something rarely found in the construction industry: a strong commitment to work-life balance, combined with genuine opportunities for career advancement and leadership growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead projects from pursuit and proposal stage through execution and final completion.
- Prepare estimates, budgets, schedules, and technical proposals for geotechnical and civil construction projects.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, developers, and contractors.
- Identify and help secure new project opportunities through networking and business development activities.
- Collaborate with engineering, operations, and construction teams to develop innovative and cost-effective solutions.
- Manage project financials, contracts, forecasting, risk, and overall commercial performance.
- Oversee project resources, subcontractors, suppliers, and field operations.
- Ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
- Mentor and support junior project staff while providing leadership across project teams.
- Represent the company at client meetings, industry events, and project reviews.
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
- P.Eng. designation in British Columbia (or eligibility to obtain).
- 8+ years of experience within the Lower Mainland and Western Canadian construction market.
- Strong experience managing civil, geotechnical, foundation, earth retention, or ground improvement projects.
- Proven estimating, proposal writing, contract management, and project delivery experience.
- An established local network of owners, consultants, contractors, and industry professionals.
- Demonstrated success in client-facing roles and business development activities.
- Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Excellent commercial and financial acumen.
- A hands-on, entrepreneurial mindset with a passion for seeing projects through from opportunity to successful completion.
- $125,000-$150,000 base salary, plus performance bonus.
- More experienced candidates with higher compensation expectations may also be considered.
- Comprehensive benefits package, with profit sharing
- Flexible and supportive work environment with an enviable work-life balance.
- The opportunity to work on high-profile and technically challenging projects across Western Canada.
- Significant autonomy, responsibility, and influence within the business.
- Direct exposure to senior leadership and decision-making.
- Ongoing professional development and leadership opportunities.
- A clear path for career growth into senior operational and business leadership roles.
- Additional perks, team events, and plenty of extras.
