Original job description

Vention is a Montreal-born industrial automation company on a mission to help manufacturers automate in days instead of months. Founded in 2016 by Etienne Lacroix and Max Windisch, Vention built the only AI-powered hardware and software platform made for the factory floor. Manufacturers use it to design, program, order and deploy automated equipment, from robot cells to palletizers, without the long timelines and heavy integration costs of traditional automation.

What makes Vention different is that the product is real: you can see it, touch it, and watch it come to life. Engineers build and test equipment right on the floor of the Montreal headquarters, and the people you’d recruit design it, sell it and ship it. Now Vention is leading the next shift in manufacturing: physical AI. Robots are learning to see, adapt and make decisions on their own, and few companies are as well placed to bring that to real factories. Its technology now powers 28,000+ machines in 4,000+ factories across 5 continents, for customers ranging from aerospace and space to automotive, pharma, biotech and food. Vention is growing faster than planned, across Montreal, Detroit and Munich.

This is a company in hypergrowth. The product is proven. The customers are world-class. The market is wide open. What’s needed now is the talent engine to keep up, and the recruiters who’ll build it.

Highlights

  • HQ in Montreal, with growing hubs in Detroit and Munich (Vention’s new European HQ)
  • 400+ employees and growing
  • Great Place to Work: Best Workplaces in Manufacturing, Canada (2025, 2023, 2022); Deloitte Technology Fast 50 (four times); Globe and Mail Top Growing Companies (2025, 2023)
  • $300M+ CAD raised from investors such as NVIDIA, Bain Capital, Fidelity, Georgian and White Star, with a $150M CAD Series D in January 2026 led by Investissement Québec
  • Trusted by a significant share of the Fortune 500, with customers including Boeing, L’Oréal and Lockheed Martin

About the Role

As a Recruitment Partner, you’ll join Vention’s in-house Talent Acquisition team in Montreal. You’ll report to the Sr. Manager, Talent Acquisition and work alongside a tech and product recruiter. This isn’t a “take the req, fill the seat” role. Your central mandate is to be a true partner to hiring managers. That means guiding them on who’s realistic to hire, at what pay, in which market and with which profile, and adapting with confidence when priorities shift.

Location: Montreal HQ, hybrid

What You’ll Own

Full-Cycle Recruitment

  • Own the full recruitment lifecycle for 10–15 roles at a time, from intake to signed offer, across GTM or Operations
  • Run sharp intake meetings with hiring managers, VPs and C-level leaders to define must-haves vs. nice-to-haves, target profiles and companies, and team culture
  • Go sourcing-first: build creative, proactive strategies to reach passive talent in niche markets where referrals and inbound applications won’t fill the gap
  • Screen candidates and manage a structured process through interviews, business cases or technical assignments, onsite presentations, and offer and negotiation

Hiring Manager Advisory

  • Act as a trusted advisor, aligning hiring managers on experience vs. pay vs. market, and backing your recommendations with real market data
  • Build interview scorecards and structured processes that lead to confident, well-calibrated decisions
  • Run regular search reviews: what’s working, what isn’t, and what needs to change
  • Handle shifting priorities and role changes with flexibility, and keep things moving when the plan changes overnight

Candidate Experience & Expectation-Setting

  • Give every candidate a clear, honest picture of Vention’s pace, culture and expectations, so new hires walk in ready and stay
  • Deliver a thoughtful, high-quality candidate experience from first outreach to close
  • Represent Vention in the market with credibility, authenticity and energy

Employer Brand & Team Building

  • Help strengthen Vention’s employer brand through great candidate interactions, market feedback and creative outreach
  • Build and nurture talent pipelines for current and future roles across Montreal, Detroit and beyond
  • Contribute to side projects that move the team forward, such as employer branding, campus recruiting and inclusive hiring initiatives
  • Help improve Vention’s hiring frameworks, recruiter playbooks and processes as the team scales

About You

We’re looking for a resilient, sourcing-first recruiter who loves speed, is comfortable with ambiguity, and wants to be a true partner to the business.

  • Experience: 3–8 years of full-cycle recruitment experience
  • Agency + in-house: ideally you’ve worked on both sides. Boutique agency experience is especially valued, and in-house experience ideally at a startup or scaleup with a sourcing-heavy model
  • Sourcing-first: you’re creative and relentless in reaching passive talent, and you don’t wait for applicants to come to you
  • High-volume, high-variety: you’ve managed 10+ open roles at once across different functions and levels, and you enjoy switching contexts
  • GTM or Operations recruiting: experience hiring sales and marketing talent (BDRs, AEs, account managers, marketing leaders) or operations and manufacturing talent (engineers, production managers, technicians)
  • Advisory skills: you can push back, guide hiring managers on market realities and pay, and build structure where there isn’t any
  • Senior conversations: you’re confident holding director-level conversations with hiring managers and senior candidates
  • Builder mindset: you’ve been a company’s first or only recruiter, or you’d thrive in that kind of ownership
  • Adaptable: you’re energized by fast-changing priorities, not drained by them
  • Clear communicator: you build trust quickly with candidates, hiring managers and leaders
  • Based in or near Montreal
  • Bonus:
  • Employer branding experience
  • Campus or early-talent recruiting experience
  • Experience leading or contributing to inclusive hiring initiatives
  • Creative use of AI tools in sourcing
  • Experience recruiting in industrial, manufacturing, robotics, hardware or deep-tech environments
  • Bilingual (English/French)

The Extras that Matter

You’ll be building the talent engine behind one of the most exciting companies in physical AI, and your impact will show up in every team you help build. Beyond that:

  • Base salary: $90K–$130K base
  • Annual performance bonus, tied to hiring results, time to fill, projects and teamwork, with the potential to exceed target for strong results
  • 4 weeks vacation
  • Hybrid work model x3 a week in office in Montreal HQ
  • Comprehensive group benefits for you and your family, starting day one
  • Top-up pay and benefits for new parents
  • Ongoing training in leadership, performance management, inclusive leadership and feedback
  • Pay equity reviews, inclusive policies and a Women’s Employee Resource Group
  • Two paid volunteering days per year
  • Year-round team events, including an annual kick-off, an employee summit and quarterly happy hours
  • Startup speed at a company that’s scaling, with real ownership and visible impact from day one
