Original job description
Company Description
The Mighty Studio is a portrait and commercial photography studio in Toronto. We shoot families, brands, editorial and events, and our work has appeared in People, Goop, House & Home and S Magazine. We’re a small but mighty team that moves quickly, says yes to big ideas, and expects everyone to bring some of their own.
Role Description
The Social Media Coordinator is a contract role based in Toronto, with some work from home. You’ll be in the studio whenever we’re shooting, and we’ll set your schedule together each month around what’s booked.
The work comes in two parts. First, the studio’s own accounts: ideally 3 reels a week, plus everything that keeps our socials alive. Second, client reels: when clients book reels with the studio, you shoot and deliver them. Some months are busier than others. All of it is paid.
We’re looking for someone who makes reels and TikToks people actually watch to the end. Not “content.” Videos. The kind that get sent to a group chat.
What you’ll do:
- Own The Mighty Studio’s socials across Instagram and TikTok (and whatever else you recommend!)
- Capture behind the scenes footage at shoots, events and studio projects
- Concept, shoot, edit and post short-form video that performs
- Go beyond shoot recaps: interviews, creative concepts and recurring series that show off Mighty’s work and personality
- Stay on top of trends, audio and new formats before they’re over, and make them feel like Mighty instead of everyone else
- Pitch ideas constantly. We don’t want to have to ask
- Shoot and edit reels for clients who book them through the studio
- Handle Stories, photo posts and captions, not just reels
- Plan and manage the content calendar and schedule posts
- Reply to comments and DMs and keep the community engaged
- Work directly with Hailey so everything looks and sounds like the studio
- Track everything and report monthly on growth: followers, reach, engagement, saves, shares. Numbers going up is the job
What we expect:
- 3 reels a week for the studio’s own accounts
- Paid client reels delivered within one week of shooting (bonus $ for booked reels)
- A tracking system you set up and actually use, with month over month growth you can show us
- Your own hours tracked and invoiced accurately
- Availability on shoot days, which we’ll plan together monthly
- Comfort in a very fast paced environment. Things change. You change with them
The good part:
- All work is paid, hourly
- Schedule set monthly, built around shoots
- Incentives when clients book reels with the studio
- A front row seat to shoots, events and collaborations across Toronto
Qualifications
- A portfolio of reels and TikToks you’ve filmed and edited yourself, ideally with results attached
- Strong video editing skills in Premiere, CapCut, or whatever gets it done well, including music, sound effects, text, transitions and simple motion graphics
- A proven ability to grow an account, and the numbers to back it up
- Comfort with Instagram and TikTok analytics
- The ability to spot a trend and reinterpret it in an original way, not just copy it
- Clear, engaging caption writing in a voice that isn’t boring
- Strong organization and the ability to manage a content calendar without reminders
- A good eye for storytelling, composition and editing. We’re a photo studio. We’ll notice
- Genuine interest in photography and design
- Able to work as an independent contractor, track your own hours and invoice the studio
- A flexible schedule that can shift with bookings
- Ability to work independently, hit deadlines and adapt quickly
- Experience in a creative, photography or agency environment is an asset
Ideal Candidate
Someone with strong creative instincts who likes experimenting with different content styles, sees opportunities before they’re pointed out, and can make a trend feel like it was invented here. Collaborative, adaptable, and fine with plans changing by lunch.
To apply
- Send your portfolio and two or three reels you’re proudest of to info@themightystudio.ca. Tell us what you’d post first.
