THE ROLE
We are currently seeking a Cashier passionate about customer service and great local food to join our Front-End Team! Previous experience in a cash-handling retail environment is an asset, but we are willing to train the right person with the right attitude.
The Root Cellar sprouted from a deep passion for fresh, local food and sustainable food systems.
What began as a small idea quickly took root in Victoria, where the community embraced and amplified that passion - helping The Root Cellar grow into what it is today. - Provide superior customer service to exceed customer needs.
- Connect with our customers through great local food.
- Work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
- Efficiently process cash, debit, and credit transactions.
- Bag customer purchases with care.
- Maintain a clean and tidy work area.
- Perform a variety of cleaning tasks.
- Attend to the cleaning and replenishing of the floral area near the till line.
- Remain aware of store products, changes, and seasonal requirements.

What Your Bring To The Table
- The ability to work a variety of shifts including mid-day weekdays and weekends, approximately 20 hours weekly.
- This position requires the candidate to lift up to 25 lb, bending, stand for shift duration, climb stairs, preform repetitive tasks, and enter in coolers (4°C) and freezer (-20°C).
- The ability to multi-task and work efficiently in a busy environment.
- The ability to work well within a team.
- Previous retail/customer service experience is an asset, but we are willing to train the right person with the right attitude!

Responsibilities

Requirements

Physical requirements include lifting up to 25 pounds, standing for the shift, bending, climbing stairs, repetitive tasks, and entering coolers and freezers; prior retail or customer service experience is an asset but training is available.
