About the Opportunity
A confidential manufacturing organization seeks an experienced Senior Controller to lead its accounting and financial operations.
This is a strategic leadership opportunity for a hands-on finance professional who can oversee the accounting function, strengthen financial controls and processes, provide meaningful financial insights to senior leadership, and lead a high-performing Finance team.
The successful candidate will bring strong technical accounting expertise, leadership capabilities, and experience operating in a fast-paced, multi-site environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all accounting operations, including General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, payroll, reconciliations, and statutory reporting.
- Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting and analysis.
- Prepare and review legal entity financial statements.
- Lead month-end and year-end close processes, including reconciliations, schedules, and audit support.
- Ensure compliance with ASPE, tax regulations, and applicable financial reporting requirements.
- Coordinate external audits and regulatory reporting, including Statistics Canada requirements.
- Develop, implement, and monitor internal controls, accounting policies, and financial procedures.
- Maintain strong controls over inventory, receivables, payables, and capital assets.
- Support ERP optimization, financial systems, and reporting improvements.
- Identify opportunities to improve financial processes, operational efficiency, and reporting capabilities.
- Oversee treasury activities, including liquidity management, cash-flow forecasting, debt funding, covenant compliance, FX exposure, and treasury controls.
- Support annual insurance renewal activities.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, cash-flow planning, and strategic financial analysis.
- Provide financial insights and recommendations to support business and operational decisions.
- Establish, monitor, and report on key financial and operational KPIs.
Leadership & Team Management
- Lead, mentor, and develop Finance team members, including direct and indirect reports.
- Provide coaching, performance feedback, and employee development support.
- Establish priorities, delegate responsibilities, and ensure deadlines and objectives are met.
- Support recruitment, onboarding, training, and succession planning.
- Foster a collaborative, accountable, and high-performance team environment.
- Partner cross-functionally with Operations, Sales, Marketing, HR, and other business stakeholders.
- Provide effective financial leadership and business partnership to senior management.
Qualifications & Experience
- University degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
- CPA designation or equivalent Canadian accounting designation (CA, CMA, CGA) is preferred.
- 10+ years of progressive accounting and financial management experience.
- Experience within a manufacturing and/or distribution environment, ideally in a multi-site organization.

- Product costing
- Inventory accounting and controls
- Budgeting and forecasting
- Financial analysis
- Internal controls
- Financial reporting
- Treasury and cash-flow management
- Proven experience leading and developing Finance teams.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting requirements.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and MS Office.
- Experience with ERP systems and financial reporting tools.
- Strong organizational, analytical, project management, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Work Environment
- Primarily office-based environment with occasional travel.
- Some extended hours may be required during month-end, year-end, audits, and critical project deadlines.
