Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Tailor role based in Toronto, ON. The Tailor will perform day-to-day tasks including measuring clients, conducting fittings, and altering or creating garments such as suits, dresses, and casual clothing. Responsibilities include sewing, hemming, repairing seams, adjusting garment structure, and ensuring precise fit and finish. The Tailor will interact with customers to understand their needs, provide professional advice on alterations, manage work orders, and maintain a clean and organized workspace. The role also involves collaborating with team members to meet deadlines and uphold quality standards.
Qualifications
- Candidates should possess strong tailoring and dressmaking skills, including garment construction, alterations, and repairs.
- Candidates should possess fitting and measurement skills, with attention to detail and accuracy in adjusting garments for different body types.
- Candidates should possess customer service and communication skills to interact professionally with clients and understand their requirements.
- Previous experience as a tailor, seamstress, or alterations specialist in a retail or service environment is beneficial.
- Ability to operate and maintain sewing machines and related equipment, and to work safely with tools and materials.
- Strong time management skills and the ability to prioritize multiple orders while meeting agreed timelines.
- Basic record-keeping skills to track customer orders and alterations; familiarity with point-of-sale or scheduling systems is an asset.
- A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred; vocational training or certification in tailoring or fashion design is an advantage.
