Reporting to Dispatch Manager, the Dispatch Supervisor is responsible for supervising and coordinating daily dispatch operations, ensuring the efficient deployment of traffic control personnel to various worksites while maintaining compliance with company procedures, occupational health and safety requirements, traffic management standards, and applicable union requirements. This role provides direction and support to dispatch staff, monitors daily operations, addresses operational issues, and ensures dispatch activities are carried out effectively and consistently. The Dispatch Supervisor also supports the Dispatch Manager with administrative and operational responsibilities and performs additional duties as assigned to support the overall effectiveness of the dispatch function.

What you will be responsible for:

Dispatch Operations and Supervision

Supervise the day-to-day operations of the Dispatch Department to ensure efficient and effective deployment of
traffic control personnel to worksites.
Provide direction, support, and guidance to Traffic Coordinators and dispatch staff to ensure established
procedures and operational requirements are consistently followed.
Monitor daily dispatch activities, staffing levels, job assignments, and coverage to ensure operational
requirements are met.
Review and address operational issues and escalate significant concerns, risks, or resource shortages to the
Dispatch Manager and appropriate operational stakeholders.
Ensure dispatch staff follow established call-back, job placement, attendance, leave, and communication
procedures.
Support the Dispatch Manager in maintaining effective dispatch operations across multiple regions.

Job Placement, Staffing and Resource Coordination

Oversee daily job placement activities to ensure employees are appropriately assigned based on operational
requirements, qualifications, availability, and established dispatch procedures.
Monitor staffing levels and coordinate with Traffic Coordinators and Area Managers to address shortages,
cancellations, sick calls, vacation, and other last-minute staffing requirements.
Ensure appropriate coverage is maintained for all shifts, including vacation, sick calls, and other employee
absences.
Oversee coordination with subcontractors and other resources to support operational staffing requirements.
Monitor the use and availability of rental equipment and coordinate with appropriate employees, clients, and
operational stakeholders as required.

Communication and Stakeholder Coordination

Act as one of the key points of contact between Dispatch, Area Managers, field personnel, Operations, Human
Resources, and other internal stakeholders regarding daily operational requirements.
Ensure timely communication of staffing issues, job changes, service concerns, and other operational matters to the appropriate stakeholders.
Support the resolution of employee and operational concerns by gathering relevant information and
coordinating with the appropriate departments.
Investigate and provide information regarding dispatch-related grievances and concerns in collaboration with Human Resources, Operations, and the Dispatch Manager.
Support effective communication and coordination with clients and subcontractors as required to resolve day-to-day operational matters and directing matters related to traffic personnel to Area and Operation
Managers.

Team Leadership and Development

Provide day-to-day leadership, coaching, and guidance to dispatch staff to support consistent performance and
adherence to established procedures.
Monitor the performance of dispatch staff and provide feedback to the Dispatch Manager regarding performance
concerns, training needs, and development opportunities.
Support the onboarding and training of new dispatch employees and ensure staff receive appropriate training on
dispatch systems, procedures, and operational requirements.
Promote a collaborative, customer-focused, and service-oriented environment within the Dispatch Department.

Systems, Compliance and Process Support

Monitor the accurate and effective use of dispatch systems and tools, including Skedulo, and identify system or
process issues requiring attention.
Ensure dispatch activities are conducted in accordance with company policies, standard operating procedures,
occupational health and safety requirements, traffic management standards, and applicable union requirements.
Identify opportunities to improve daily dispatch processes and communicate recommendations to the Dispatch
Manager.
Support the implementation of process improvements, departmental initiatives, and operational changes as
directed by the Dispatch Manager.
Perform other duties as assigned.

What we need from you:

Bachelor Education in Business and Communication, or related field is an asset.
2-4 years of experience in a related position or field.
Knowledge and understanding of Traffic Management Plans and the Traffic Control Manual for Work on Roadways developed by the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure is preferred.
Knowledge of Windows Office Applications: Word, Excel and Google Suite or ability to learn and
understand other software and applications.
Previous dispatching experience is considered an asset.
