Job Summary
Canada's Immuno-Engineering and Biomanufacturing Hub (CIEBH) is a national coalition hosted at the University of British Columbia that brings together more than 60 academic, industry, public health, and not-for-profit partners to accelerate the development and manufacturing of lifesaving immune-based medicines. Through an integrated program of biomedical innovation, talent development, and infrastructure expansion, CIEBH is advancing next-generation vaccines, antibodies, and cell and gene therapies with the goal of enabling Canada to develop, manufacture, and test homegrown therapeutics in under 100 days in response to future pandemics and emerging health threats. CIEBH is one of five pan-Canadian research hubs established under Canada's Biomanufacturing and Life Sciences Strategy and is supported by multiple federal funding streams including the Canada Biomedical Research Fund (CBRF) and funds from Health Emergency Readiness Canada (HERC).
The Coordinator, Education Programs & Communications is responsible for the planning, organizing, and delivery of communications and leads in the development of initiatives that advance training and talent development programs in alignment with the Hub's strategic research, partnership and talent development priorities. The role develops communication materials, leads training and talent development initiatives and partnerships across the CIEBH ecosystem, and engages with stakeholders to enhance the visibility, connectivity and impact of the Hub. This is a hybrid role: office hours and days may vary dependent on operational needs such as special meetings, event days, work type and workload. The incumbent plays an integral role in strengthening CIEBH's communications, supporting collaborative training and talent development initiatives, and promoting awareness of the Hub's programs, partnerships and impact.

The UBC Vancouver Campus is located on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territory of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam) people. The City of Vancouver is located on Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh First Nations territory.
This position reports to the Manager, Strategic Initiatives at CIEBH and works collaboratively with the Senior Manager, CIEBH and other CIEBH and the office of research team members at the Faculty of Medicine.
Work Performed
Communications and Content Development
- Develop, write, edit and produce high-quality and audience-appropriate communication materials that support CIEBH's research, training and talent development, partnerships and strategic initiatives.
- Collaborate with the Scientific Communications & Engagement Strategist to develop marketing and communication materials, communication campaigns, and branded visual and digital assets.
- Develop and manage CIEBH's digital communication platforms, ensuring information is accurate, current and aligned with CIEBH’s strategic priorities, UBC branding and accessibility standards.
- Plan and deliver communications and promotional activities for CIEBH events, workshops, symposiums, training programs, and partner engagement activities, working with internal teams and external partners to ensure coordinated and consistent messaging.
- Manage communication schedules, editorial calendars, content libraries, image repositories, and related communication assets to support the timely delivery of communications activities and campaigns
- Manage the production and distribution of print, promotional, and branded materials, including brochures, signage, conference and exhibitor booth materials, merchandise, and related resources; liaise with vendors and service providers to ensure timely delivery.
- Analyze communications performance and audience engagement and recommend improvements to communication content, channels and approaches
Training and Talent Development
- Lead the planning, implementation and administration of CIEBH training and talent development initiatives that support talent development across the immuno-engineering, translational research, clinical, regulatory, and biomanufacturing ecosystem.
- Research, analyze and synthesize information on training activities, educational resources, ecosystem capabilities and emerging workforce needs to identify gaps and opportunities across immuno-engineering, translational research, clinical, regulatory affairs and biomanufacturing.
- Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with training and talent development partners, including organizations such as CASTL, BioHubNet and other academic, industry, government and not-for-profit partners, to facilitate information exchange, promote opportunities and support collaborative training initiatives across the ecosystem.
- Lead the delivery of training and talent development initiatives in collaboration with internal teams and external partners, ensuring alignment with established objectives and synthesizing progress, outcomes, and emerging needs for program planning, governance and funder reporting.
- Analyze participation metrics, program outcomes, and stakeholder feedback related to training and talent development initiatives, and recommend enhancements to support continuous improvement and program effectiveness.
- Perform other related duties as required for the evolving operational needs of CIEBH
Consequence of Error/Judgement
The Coordinator exercises sound judgment, discretion and initiative in managing and coordinating communications, talent development and operational activities across CIEBH. The role requires a high level of attention to detail, organization, and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Errors or omissions in communications, training & talent development activities, documentation, or stakeholder coordination may result in delays in program delivery, inefficiencies in workflows, the need for rework, and may adversely affect the quality of communications, training & talent development initiatives and partner relationships. Inaccurate or incomplete information may impact reporting, planning and decision-making processes.
The Coordinator is expected to identify, assess, and escalate risks, inconsistencies, or issues in a timely manner, supporting effective resolution and alignment with program priorities and UBC policies and procedures. The role involves handling sensitive administrative, operational, and partnership-related information and require high degree of confidentiality, professionalism, and discretion.
This position is performed under the direction of the Strategic Initiatives Manager, and issues are addressed through regular review, guidance, and team-based coordination. The Coordinator is expected to operate independently on day-to-day activities, exercise judgment in prioritizing work, managing competing demands, and adapting to evolving program needs; while seeking guidance on complex or non-routine matters.
Supervision Received
The Coordinator works independently under the general direction of the Manager, Strategic Initiatives, CIEBH, who establishes overall objectives and priorities; For assigned communications and engagement initiatives, the incumbent receives functional direction from the Scientific Communications & Engagement Strategist to ensure coordinated planning and alignment of messaging, brand standards, and delivery approaches. The incumbent is expected to exercise independent judgment in determining communications content, messaging, format, channels and delivery approaches; managing assigned training and talent development initiatives; and resolving issues within established policies, standards and CIEBH and UBC communications requirements. Work is reviewed for achievement of objectives, quality and accuracy of outputs and alignment with CIEBH priorities. Matters involving significant risk, sensitivity, policy exceptions, strategic implications, or reputational considerations are escalated to the Manager, Strategic Initiatives for guidance and direction.
Supervision Given
This position does not have formal supervisory responsibility for other staff. The incumbent may provide functional guidance to student employees, volunteers, or co-op students engaged on CIEBH projects as required.
Minimum Qualifications
Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline. Minimum four years of related experience, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum of four years of relevant experience in communications and/or marketing, training coordination, stakeholder engagement, or a comparable role, preferably within an academic, healthcare, research, government, or not-for-profit environment. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Experience developing and coordinating written, visual and digital communication materials, including newsletters, website content, reports, presentations, promotional materials, and social media content.
- Experience creating visual communication materials using graphic design and content creation tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite or equivalent).
- Experience coordinating communications and/or program activities within academic, healthcare, research, biotechnology, life sciences, biomanufacturing, regulatory, clinical, public health, or related environments.
- Experience coordinating events, workshops, conferences, symposiums, training sessions, or stakeholder engagement activities, including participant communications, registration, and logistics
- Experience supporting initiatives within the biomanufacturing, biotechnology, life sciences, health research, translational research, regulatory, clinical, or health innovation sectors is preferred.
- Experience analyzing, interpreting, and synthesizing complex information from multiple sources and preparing reports, presentations, briefing materials, inventories, or other documentation to support program activities, reporting, and stakeholder engagement.
- Experience developing and maintaining collaborative relationships with internal and external collaborators, including academic, industry, government and community partners.
- Experience supporting grant-funded initiatives, multi-stakeholder collaborations or research programs is an asset.
- Familiarity with UBC administrative processes, website content management systems, collaboration platforms and communication tools, or experience working in a similar institutional environment, is an asset.
Skills And Abilities
- Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills in English, with the ability to prepare clear, concise and engaging communication materials for a variety of audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to translate scientific, technical and program information into accessible written, visual and digital communications.
- Demonstrated proficiency in developing visual communication materials, including infographics, presentations, promotional materials and digital assets, using graphic design and visual content creation software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite or Canva or equivalent).

- Knowledge of Canada's biomanufacturing, life sciences, translational research, clinical research, regulatory, or health innovation ecosystem is an asset.
