On behalf of our client, Ganong Bros Ltd, we are looking for an experienced Senior Manager, Planning to join their team, supporting the continued growth and evolution of their supply chain and planning operations.

About Our Client:

Established in 1873, Ganong is one of Canada's most recognized confectionery companies, with a proud history rooted in St. Stephen, New Brunswick.

Known for its quality chocolates and confectionery products, Ganong has built a longstanding reputation for craftsmanship, innovation, and bringing people together through products enjoyed by generations of Canadians. With more than 150 years of history, Ganong continues to evolve its operations while maintaining the values and traditions that have shaped its success. Their team is committed to collaboration, continuous improvement, and building a strong foundation for the future. If you're looking for an opportunity to contribute your expertise to a well-established Canadian company while helping shape its planning processes and long-term growth, this is an opportunity worth exploring.

The Opportunity:

Strengthen planning. Connect teams. Help shape the future of a Canadian company.

As Senior Manager, Planning, you'll take on a newly created position focused on strengthening Ganong's Integrated Business Planning (IBP) processes, overseeing production planning, and improving alignment across the organization. Reporting to the Director, Supply Chain & Planning, you'll work closely with Operations, Supply Chain, Sales, Marketing, Finance, and Customer Service to ensure business priorities, production capabilities, customer demand, and financial objectives are aligned. You'll play an important role in developing long-range planning strategies, improving forecasting accuracy, identifying operational opportunities, and supporting informed business decisions. This position offers the opportunity to influence how planning is approached across the organization. You'll bring together different departments, challenge existing processes where needed, and help build practical solutions that support both day-to-day operations and long-term business objectives. While this position does not have direct reports, it requires someone who is comfortable taking the lead, building strong relationships, and influencing decisions across multiple departments. You'll have the opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to Ganong's continued growth while working with an established team that values collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • You're an experienced supply chain and planning professional who enjoys looking at the bigger picture while understanding the operational details that make everything work.
  • You bring a strong understanding of Integrated Business Planning (IBP), Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP), production planning, and supply chain operations. You know how to connect forecasting, inventory, manufacturing capacity, and business priorities to support effective decision-making.
  • You're confident in your knowledge and comfortable presenting recommendations, building business cases, and gaining support from stakeholders across different departments.
  • You communicate clearly, know how to ask the right questions, and aren't afraid to challenge ideas or offer a different perspective when you see an opportunity for improvement.
  • You enjoy working collaboratively and understand that successful planning requires strong relationships between Operations, Sales, Finance, Supply Chain, and other areas of the business.
  • You're analytical, organized, and comfortable working with data, ERP systems, and planning tools to identify trends, solve problems, and improve processes.
  • Most importantly, you're someone who can balance strategic thinking with practical execution and is excited about the opportunity to help strengthen and shape a company's planning function.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and continuously improve Ganong's Integrated Business Planning (IBP) process, ensuring alignment between demand, supply, operations, and financial objectives.
  • Facilitate cross-functional planning discussions to strengthen collaboration, improve forecasting accuracy, and support informed decision-making.
  • Oversee production planning activities, balancing customer demand, manufacturing capacity, inventory targets, and available resources.
  • Develop and support long-range production plans that align with business objectives and operational capabilities.
  • Work closely with Operations, Supply Chain, Sales, Finance, Customer Service, and other departments to identify planning priorities and opportunities for improvement.
  • Analyze production trends, inventory levels, demand forecasts, and operational performance to identify risks and recommend solutions.
  • Identify potential supply chain disruptions and develop practical strategies to minimize their impact.
  • Build and present business cases and planning recommendations, gaining support from stakeholders across the organization.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives to strengthen planning processes, systems, workflows, and overall operational efficiency.
  • Support the implementation and optimization of ERP systems and advanced planning software.
  • Monitor key planning metrics and performance indicators, providing meaningful insights and recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Support scenario planning and business contingency planning to help the organization respond to changing market and operational conditions.
  • Explore opportunities to responsibly incorporate emerging technologies, including AI-enabled tools, into forecasting, analysis, and planning processes.
  • Promote collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement across the planning function and broader organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Operations, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 8–10+ years of progressive experience in supply chain, planning, operations, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience leading Integrated Business Planning (IBP) or Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) processes.
  • Strong understanding of production planning, inventory management, forecasting, and supply chain operations.
  • Experience leading cross-functional initiatives and influencing decisions across multiple departments.
  • Experience working with ERP systems and advanced planning software.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Confidence in developing business cases, presenting recommendations, and gaining stakeholder buy-in.
  • Strong organizational and project management abilities.
  • Ability to balance long-term strategic priorities with day-to-day operational requirements.
  • Practical knowledge of AI-enabled tools and their potential applications in planning, forecasting, and business analysis.
  • Manufacturing experience is considered an asset.
  • Legally eligible to work in Canada.

Benefits

  • Annual salary of $80,000–$100,000, depending on experience and qualifications.
  • Potential performance-based bonus opportunities.
  • Employer-matched pension plan, with contributions of 3.5% up to the Year's Maximum Pensionable Earnings (YMPE), increasing to 5% above that threshold.
  • Comprehensive Blue Cross extended health benefits.
  • Dental and vision coverage.
  • Long-term disability coverage.
