The Food Services Manager reports to the Executive Director and provides leadership in all aspects of the dietary operation within established legislative and professional standards, manages human, material, and fiscal resources, and monitors the quality of care and services delivered to clients through effective quality improvement activities.
Wage Rate:
The starting annual salary is $65,000.

Responsibilities:
- Participating in town hall meetings
- Ensures open communication between staff and other team members
- Support and promote a team approach
- Conduct departmental meetings and in-services training in the department
- Encourage participation in the Home’s committees/teams
- Mentoring new staff and students
- Ongoing delivery of customer service with staff, residents, families, and the public
- Ensuring an optimal quality of life for each resident by providing well-balanced meals
- Ensure mealtimes are a social occasion and involve all team members
- Ensures compliance with Public Health and Ministry of Long-Term Care standards and regulations
- Understands the home’s Continuous Quality Improvement Program and participates in departmental auditing.
- Required to participate in the improvement of the indicators and achieve satisfactory results.
- Utilizes equipment and supplies within budgetary constraints
- Reports faulty equipment and ensures lock/tag out is practiced.
- Completes invoices and variance reporting
- Participates in the budgeting process in collaboration with Executive Director
- Responsible for tracking inventory of food/drinks as well as ordering food twice per week and then ensuring that items arrived from food orders are in good condition.
- Leads the Food Service team with delivering pleasurable dining experiences to Residents
- Lead the roll out of menu cycles
- Chairs the Resident Food Committee meetings
- Provides verbal or written endorsement regarding changes in resident status to the Food Services Team
- Liaise with a Registered Dietitian to provide resident nutrition care
- Complete scheduled assessments and quarterlies of low and moderate nutrition risk residents
- Complete required documentation and updates on Residents Point-of-Service communication tools
- Attends annual care conferences or special care conferences
- Participates in Joint Food Service Managers Meetings
- Completes required annual education
- Other duties as assigned and or indicated in the Job Task Inventory
Qualifications:
The qualifications needed to join our family are as follows:
- Active member of the Canadian Society of Nutrition & Management (CSNM) or a registered dietitian
- Comprehensive knowledge of long-term care concepts and philosophies
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Previous managerial experience in a long-term care setting an asset
- Policy and program development
- Good judgment & decision-making, solving problems & resolving conflicts skills
- Has at least 2 years of experience
- Knowledgeable of the Ministry of Long-Term Care and Public Health’s rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Knowledgeable about Hazard Analysis Critical Control Procedures (HACCP)
- To show evidence of being focused on people’s feelings when interacting and knowing how to turn a task into positive social interaction.
- To undertake and meet all legal requirements within a context of promoting individuals’ rights and measuring/reducing elements of risk.
- Clear vulnerable sector screening (within the last 6 months), recent TB test results (within the last 6 months) or Chest X-ray (within the last 1 year),
- Two supervisory references required
- Provide proof of all required vaccines. The Employer strongly recommends to “stay up to date” with the recommended vaccines. Vaccination requirements are subject to changes as determined by the Employer.
