Original job description

About Third Avenue Spa

Established in 1999 in the heart of Ottawa's historic Glebe neighbourhood, Third Avenue Spa has built a longstanding reputation for exceptional service and luxury spa experiences.

Our success is rooted in personalized care, lasting client relationships, and a dedicated team of professionals who take pride in their work.

We are seeking an experienced Director of Operations to help build on this strong foundation and contribute to the continued success of our business.

The Opportunity

This is a rare opportunity to take on a meaningful leadership role within an established and respected Ottawa business.

Working directly with ownership, you will oversee the daily operations of Third Avenue Spa, lead our team, manage financial performance, and identify opportunities for continued growth.

We are looking for an experienced, approachable leader with strong business judgment and a genuine passion for people. The ideal candidate enjoys being actively involved in the business, takes initiative, and understands the importance of delivering an exceptional guest experience.

Key Responsibilities

Business Operations: Oversee daily operations, staffing, scheduling, inventory, and service standards to ensure the business runs effectively.
Financial Performance: monitor expenses, review key performance indicators, and identify opportunities to improve profitability.
People Leadership: Lead and develop our team while overseeing human resources, employee relations, and performance management.
Workplace Culture: Foster a positive work environment that encourages accountability, professional development, and employee engagement.
Guest Experience: Maintain our high standards of personalized service while strengthening client relationships and addressing feedback.
Business Development: Work closely with ownership to support marketing initiatives, improve operational processes, and identify opportunities for growth.

Qualifications & Experience

Minimum five years of management experience, ideally within hospitality, wellness, beauty, or another service-oriented industry.
Proven experience managing business operations and leading teams.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to build positive working relationships.
Sound business judgment and confidence in making independent decisions.
A hands-on leadership style with a commitment to exceptional service.

Post-secondary education in business, hospitality, human resources, or related fields is an asset. Previous spa industry experience would be considered an asset. We value strong leadership skills and transferable business experience.

Why Join Third Avenue Spa?

This is an opportunity to lead an established luxury business, work directly with ownership, and make a meaningful contribution to its future. You'll be part of a dedicated team in an environment that values exceptional service and genuine relationships.

How to Apply

If you're an experienced leader who enjoys developing people and improving business performance, we'd love to hear from you.

Please submit your resume and cover letter outlining your relevant experience and interest in Third Avenue Spa to patricia@thirdavenuespa.com.

We thank all applicants for their interest. Only those selected for an interview will be contacted.
