Original job description

Company Description Thrive Creative Inc. operates as an on-demand engineering department, embedding forward-deployed engineers directly into client teams as their technical function for as long as needed. The company offers flexible engagement models, from a single developer in standups for a few weeks to multi‑disciplinary squads spanning product, design, development, data and AI, DevOps, and QA. Clients fully own everything Thrive builds, with ownership assigned as soon as code is written, and work is billed only for hands-on keyboard time at a single hourly rate across disciplines. Thrive also supports clients by identifying suitable funding opportunities, documenting work, and managing applications at no extra fee, all without rigid statements of work or lock‑in commitments. A dedicated engineer maintains project context from initial design through to shipping, ensuring continuity and efficient delivery.
Role Description As a Software Engineer at Thrive Creative Inc., you will work as part of forward-deployed engineering teams, collaborating closely with clients to design, build, and maintain high-quality software solutions. Day-to-day responsibilities include implementing back-end services and APIs, writing clean and maintainable code, participating in code reviews, and contributing to architectural and technical design discussions. You will diagnose and resolve software issues, improve system performance, and help integrate data, AI, and other services as required by client projects. The role is full time and hybrid, based in Calgary, AB, with flexibility to work remotely for part of the week while attending onsite meetings and collaboration sessions as needed.
Qualifications

Strong foundation in Computer Science concepts, including data structures, algorithms, and software architecture.
Proficiency in Software Development and Programming, with experience building production-grade applications.
Hands-on experience in Back-End Web Development, including APIs, databases, and server-side frameworks.
Solid understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) principles and their practical application.
Experience with modern development tools and practices (version control, CI/CD, testing frameworks, code review).
Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and communicate technical concepts clearly.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Experience working in client-facing or consulting environments and familiarity with agile methodologies is an asset.
