Thunderbird Plumbing Solutions Inc. is a family- and founder-operated plumbing company built on quality workmanship, honest service, and taking care of our customers. We provide residential plumbing services throughout Greater Victoria and are expanding our presence across Central Vancouver Island, including Nanaimo, Parksville, and Qualicum Beach.

We’re looking for an experienced, customer-focused Service Plumber to join our Nanaimo team. This position is best suited to a qualified tradesperson who is confident diagnosing problems, recommending solutions, completing repairs independently, and delivering an excellent customer experience.

This is a commission-based position, offering earning potential tied to completed work and individual performance. Work volume and hours are not guaranteed and will depend on customer demand, scheduling, and business needs. Availability for scheduled on-call rotations, including evenings and weekends, is required.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair residential plumbing systems.
• Complete service calls involving leaks, drainage issues, water heaters, fixtures, water distribution systems, and other common plumbing problems.
• Perform plumbing replacements, upgrades, and renovation work as required.
• Assess plumbing issues, identify the underlying cause, and present appropriate repair or replacement options to customers.
• Prepare and explain estimates, communicate pricing clearly, and obtain customer authorization before proceeding with work.
• Complete work efficiently while maintaining high standards of workmanship and customer service.
• Maintain accurate job notes, documentation, photographs, estimates, and invoices using company software.
• Follow applicable plumbing codes, safety requirements, and company procedures.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and professional appearance on job sites and in company vehicles.
• Communicate effectively with dispatch, management, customers, and other trades.
• Maintain a professional, respectful approach when working in customers' homes.
• Participate in scheduled on-call rotations and respond to assigned service calls in accordance with company expectations.
• Help support Thunderbird's continued growth and reputation throughout the Nanaimo and Central Island service area.

Qualifications

• Red Seal endorsement in Plumbing is strongly preferred and will be a major consideration in hiring.
• Significant hands-on experience in residential plumbing service, troubleshooting, and repairs.
• Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and make sound decisions in the field.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain plumbing issues and solutions clearly to customers.
• A valid driver's licence and a clean driving record suitable for operating a company vehicle.
• Ability to use mobile technology and job-management software to document work and manage service calls.
• Commitment to safe work practices, professional conduct, and quality workmanship.
• Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation, including evenings and weekends.
  
• Gasfitter certification is an asset, particularly for candidates with experience servicing gas-fired water heaters and related plumbing equipment.
