Position Summary
The Early Childhood Education Assistant (ECEA) supports the delivery of high-quality early learning programs by assisting Early Childhood Educators with daily activities, child supervision, and maintaining a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist Early Childhood Educators with daily programs, routines, and age-appropriate activities.
- Support children’s safety, supervision, development, and positive behaviour.
- Prepare learning materials and maintain a clean, organized classroom.
- Assist with meals, snacks, rest periods, and daily transitions.
- Observe children’s development and report concerns to the Educator or Supervisor.
- Promote inclusive practices and positive relationships with children, families, and colleagues.
- Comply with centre policies, licensing requirements, and health and safety procedures.
- Participate in staff meetings, training, and professional development.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Certificate or diploma in Early Learning and Child Care (ELCC), Early Childhood Education Assistant (ECEA), or Early Learning and Education Assistant (ELEA) from a recognized institution.
- Valid ECEA certification with the BC Early Childhood Educator Registry, or eligibility to apply.
- Valid Child Care First Aid and CPR certification, or willingness to obtain.
- Clear Criminal Record Check, including Vulnerable Sector screening.
- Experience working with young children is an asset.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with educators and staff.
- Professionalism, reliability, and a strong sense of responsibility.
- Ability to support children from diverse backgrounds with sensitivity and respect.
- Commitment to child development, inclusive learning, and continuous professional growth.

Requirements
A certificate or diploma in Early Learning and Child Care, Early Childhood Education Assistant, or Early Learning and Education Assistant is required, along with valid BC ECEA certification or eligibility to apply. Child Care First Aid and CPR certification and a clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector screening are required or must be obtained; experience with young children is an asset.
