Who We Are
Tokio Marine Canada (TMCan) is a Canadian early-stage entrepreneurial commercial P&C insurer based in Toronto. We partner with select brokers to deliver tailored business insurance solutions across Canada. As part of the Tokio Marine Group, we are able to collaborate under a shared framework while maintaining autonomy and local decision-making.
We support Canadian businesses in taking smart risks by delivering practical insurance solutions and exceptional service through trusted broker partnerships.
The Opportunity
Working closely with business leaders, application delivery teams, developers, quality assurance, data teams, vendor partners, and your peers, we are looking for a Senior Business Systems Analyst to join our IT team.
In this role, you will lead the analysis of complex business needs, translate them into clear system requirements and solution designs, optimize business processes, support application configuration, and help drive the delivery of reliable business and technology solutions.
You will play a key role across the full delivery lifecycle by connecting business objectives with technical delivery, facilitating decisions, managing requirements and traceability, supporting testing and implementation, and ensuring solutions deliver practical value. You will work across insurance platforms, integrations, reporting and data solutions, and third-party applications while contributing to the continued maturity of our business analysis practices.
If you enjoy solving complex problems, building strong stakeholder relationships, and finding better ways to use technology to support the business, this may be the opportunity for you.
What You Will Be Doing
Business Analysis & Requirements
- Elicit, analyze, document, prioritize, and validate complex business, functional, non-functional, and system requirements.
- Translate business needs into clear technical specifications, user stories, process models, acceptance criteria, and solution documentation.
- Lead requirements workshops and discovery sessions with business stakeholders, technical teams, and vendor partners.
- Analyze current-state processes and systems, identify gaps and opportunities, and recommend practical future-state solutions.
- Maintain requirements traceability and manage changes to scope, requirements, assumptions, and decisions throughout delivery.
Solution Delivery & Application Support
- Partner with developers, quality assurance, data teams, architects, vendors, and business stakeholders to design and implement business and system solutions.
- Support configuration changes and validate that application behaviour aligns with approved requirements and business rules.
- Provide analysis across enterprise applications, integrations, APIs, reporting solutions, and data-centric processes.
- Contribute to backlog refinement, estimation, sprint planning, release planning, production readiness, and implementation activities.
- Support production issue analysis, root cause investigations, remediation planning, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Create and maintain high-quality delivery documentation, including requirements, process flows, solution designs, decision logs, test artifacts, and knowledge materials.
Testing, Implementation & Adoption
- Develop or review test scenarios, test cases, and acceptance criteria to confirm complete coverage of business requirements.
- Coordinate and support system testing, integration testing, regression testing, and user acceptance testing.
- Identify, document, track, and support the resolution of defects, requirement gaps, and implementation risks.
- Support change readiness, training, communications, and knowledge transfer for new or enhanced systems and processes.
- Validate post-implementation outcomes and recommend opportunities to improve solution performance, usability, and business value.
Stakeholder Leadership & Practice Development
- Build trusted relationships with business leaders, subject matter experts, delivery teams, and vendor partners.
- Communicate complex business and technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Facilitate decisions, resolve ambiguity, surface risks and dependencies, and help stakeholders reach alignment.
- Provide guidance and informal mentorship to other analysts and contribute to consistent business analysis standards, templates, and ways of working.
- Promote collaboration, accountability, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement across delivery teams.
Who You Are
You are an experienced Senior Business Systems Analyst who approaches challenges with an analytical, organized, and curious mindset. You can move comfortably between business strategy, operational detail, and technical delivery, and you are skilled at turning complex or ambiguous needs into clear, actionable solutions.
You are a collaborative and credible partner who communicates effectively, asks thoughtful questions, and builds consensus while maintaining momentum. You are a self-starter with strong ownership and accountability who can manage competing priorities, work effectively in a lean team, and roll up your sleeves when needed.
You are committed to practical delivery excellence and continuous improvement. You understand that successful solutions require strong requirements, thoughtful design, effective change support, and close collaboration across business, technology, and vendor teams.
